The final stand was all lit up tonight. The main atrium is all visible from the street and looked very promising.

Sure did. The covers are coming off the interior copper panelling and the escalator lights were on. Very impressive. The restoration of gardens front of the stand is underway too.obituary resider wrote:The final stand was all lit up tonight. The main atrium is all visible from the street and looked very promising.

Need pics guys - not good being isolated up in Bris. BTW - the coverage of this project in this forum has been amazing and a real help in understanding the size and quality of it.

Digital boards are installed around the whole fence from the western end of the hill to the western end of the Riverbank Stand. It's actually the fence.
Unlike AAMI where there's a fence THEN the boards as those ones were retrofitted.
Looks great, but I was hoping to see the pickets popping up above the digital boards

I'm a little disappointed by that. I was hoping they'd keep the picket fence around the ground. Will look a little odd having the pickets on the Western Stands and LED screens as the 'fence' the rest of the ground.joshyboy wrote:Digital boards are installed around the whole fence from the western end of the hill to the western end of the Riverbank Stand. Finishing touches are moving ahead at Adelaide Oval.
The digital boards may be up but the LED screens higher up on the stands are now being installed.
Next step - repeating the installation across the Eastern Stand. Ready to go.

ANZAC Day SANFL Grand Final re-match returns to Adelaide Oval
http://sanfl.com.au/news/sanfl_news/2393/
So very happy to read this. Apart from Finals this is the SANFL's big game IMO. Putting it at AO gives it the chance of a big crowd as in previous years from the march and Cross of Sacrifice service.
Without being crass about ANZAC Day, I really hope they put on a show at AO. Turn on all the big screens, all the advertising on the fence, open the place up and make it a big occasion. Get as many people as they can into the game. Make it the second incentive for getting into the GF. This will be the best chance for many to get to AO for a look at the new stadium once it's complete. That, and, as I said, apart from the Finals this is the marquee game of the season so let's make it massive.
I would hope this sets the precedent for the game to be at AO every year. Would only have to negotiate with the AFL to ensure there's no clash, which I would see as unlikely except when it's a Saturday and they may play a couple of games that night. This year it's Friday SANFL and Sunday AFL so that's fine.
I do remember the last ANZAC Day game there, sitting in the front of the red seats in the Western, a 20-something Centrals supporter threw water at some 70-something Norwood supporters as she walked past, and the reaction of "you feral b1tch!!!" was just priceless! :p

This is why he's name deserves to be up there in big letters!

Seriously, you think runner-ups and preseason wins are relevant?
On his career achievements alone the recognition is slightly dubious but not ridiculous. The real issue, though that has so many people perplexed is that half of his career/acheievements were while in Victoria playing for a Victorian team. Wanganeen isn't deserving for that reason alone, if nothing else. Or we may as well name a stand after Wayne Carey.

Still better than Max Basheer. What where his career achievements again?Tyler_Durden wrote:
