Watpac signage is around the site. Looks like they'll be building this.

Got a half decent view of the site from my place.. They don't seem to be going flat out, but there seems to be people on site pretty much every day so things should pick up soon.

Another reason to choose Snooze, eh? *Ba Dum Tish*

Does anyone remember when this was meant to be started March 2014 and finished by September 2015? (At least we know it's expected to take 18 months to build) :P

That's always the case though with developers.

Only building i actually believed the developers about was Vue.

But as I mentioned before, it seems as if this recent spate of proposals has occured without the need for the tram loop.
That's good news if development continues in this area, because when the trams come, there's already a place to catch the trams to .

The real estate agency selling the apartments in this development reports that it will be completed by 30 June 2016. Seems realistic.

Finally some action on this one today. 'Watpac' branded traffic barriers were put in place this morning. Hopefully things kick on now.

Nothing much new to report here.
Central Adelaide Apartments on Grote St is a new $70 million development for the CBD

RICHARD EVANS THE ADVERTISER APRIL 27, 2015 10:13PM SHARE

THE addition of a $70 million apartment complex to the Adelaide CBD skyline next year is expected to bring more than 400 construction jobs within the next 12 months.

The Central Adelaide Apartments on Grote St — an 18-storey, luxury apartment complex with 260 apartments and New York-style car-stacking facilities — is due to be completed in June 2016.

John Stokes, chief executive of the Master Builders SA said the Australian Securities Exchange announcement by national builder Watpac that it will deliver the project is a timely boost for the beleaguered industry.

“South Australia’s building, construction and property sector has faced a lack of confidence for some time, so this project is extremely welcome,” he said.

“It’s a large-scale project that will create jobs but also contribute to a regeneration of Adelaide, so it’s doubly welcome. It’s also a sign that South Australia’s property sector has the capacity to do big things, and that’s the sort of confidence we need.

“These projects together provide some certainty for the developers and subcontractors and the jobs they are creating beyond 2015.”

Luks Investments awarded the contract to Watpac which has recently delivered the boutique Mayfair Hotel on King William St and the Ibis Hotel on Grenfell St.

The Grote St development will feature a sky garden with barbecue facilities, sky pool, three-hole mini golf course, stone massage walking track, gym and fitness centre, mini cinema and billiard rooms in addition to studio, one, two and three bedroom configurations, ground floor retail and lower level parking.

Luks Investments director, Eric Luk, said the new apartments will mark the beginning of the renewal of the Grote street precinct and will become a feature landmark at the city’s western entrance boulevard as Adelaide’s CBD develops.

Watpac SA state manager, Tim Tape, said the project was a significant win for the company in an extremely competitive and challenging market place.

“We are delighted to continue our strong relationships with clients who value not only price, but have equal regard to the team’s experience, stability, quality and safety performance,” Mr Tape said.

“Watpac has now grown its South Australia portfolio of projects to well in excess of $200 million, and we look forward to yet again successfully delivering another high quality project for the city and our client.”

More than 70 per cent of the apartments have already been sold.
