I've never known cameras to take up space for two thousand people, so my guess is that it's a veiled way to keep AUFC and WSW fans separate.
Given the RBB's reputation, not unexpected and understandable. I'd expect a tarp taking up at least half a bay either side of the RBB. Probably similar for the Red Army as well to ensure it's only Red Army members in the active area. That would account for a few hundred seats at least.

Certainly sounds strange, given the amount of free space around the rectangular "pitch" on the oval.........

Plenty of room for all the cameras they like.

Don't forget the front few rows of the stadium are restricted view due to the advertising hoardings around the rectangular pitch.
Combine the front row issue and the fan separation issue and you'd easily account for 2-3000 seats.
Big infrastructure investments are usually under-valued and & over-criticized while in the planning stage. It's much easier to envision the here and now costs and inconveniences, and far more difficult to imagine fully the eventual benefits.

As Adelaide Oval prepares to host the A-League Grand Final and another sellout/high attendance AFL match this weekend, welcoming 100,000 fans to the city/venue ....

.... it's a good time to highlight that Adelaide Oval has been nominated for 2016 international venue of the year.

A great achievement to be nominated/shortlisted in 3 categories!
Winners will be announced on June 1.
Adelaide Oval continues to shine as South Australia’s beacon to the world, following its nomination for the 2016 Venue of the Year award. This award pits Adelaide Oval against five shortlisted major international venues including London’s Twickenham Stadium and Florida’s Daytona International Speedway.

Adelaide Oval has been nominated for three awards as part of 2016 TheStadiumBusiness Awards, to be announced in Madrid on June 1. These annual awards recognise leadership, innovation and achievement in the delivery, operation and management of sports facilities globally.

If successful, the awards would add to the 27 local, national and international accolades the redeveloped Oval has received in the past two years.

I've seen quite a few Wanderers supporters in the city this morning. Anyone want to estimate how many
people will be over from Sydney for the game ?

I believe about 10,000. The RBB in particular have come in significant numbers.

Hopefully The Advertiser or In Daily will do a piece on Monday on the positive economic impact of the A-League final...30,40 million injected into the economy....?

I've heard that it'll be closer to 5k.

keep hoping.

IF united win and there is no sniff of supporter troubles we should get a front page.

If they lose well, 5th page in of the sports section I'd say.

LOL this isn't Europe. What's going to happen? Are the wannabe hooligans and ultras going to push and shove each other and throw 3-4 flares towards each other? Ooh scary stuff.

This is how they'll separate RBB wannabe hooligan ultras and the laughable "active supporters" of United...they'll lump all RBB behind one set of goals, and United "active supporters" behind the other set. And police and security will keep an eye on both sets.

At worst what's going to happen is a few drunk Wanderers fans will get into a few small fights with a few drunk United fans. Big deal. Happens at every sporting event. But get ready for it to be blown up by the local News Corp Adelaide Crows-SANFL cartel.
After all we haven't had a national soccer league grand final in Adelaide for a long time. The last time was the NSL days I believe, at Hindmarsh. Nowhere near 50,000 in attendance.

You're spot on 100% with everything there.

Although in Feb 2011, Adelaide and Victory fans apparently had a bit of coin wars.

Amazing day today, a full house with good support for both teams, good weather and a favourable result.

I hope United can hold on to their players. They have such a strong team and it would be great to host the
grand final again.

And, as expected, the RBB have destroyed a heap of seats at the northern end of the ground.

The Wanderers fanbase are a group of destructive morons, they defaced our state sign on the NWS border too. They had better send the club the bill or shit will hit the fan (pun intended).
