Recent update:
Offering a premier shopping experience and state of the art design, Mawson Plaza is all about you!
Anchored by one of Adelaide's best retailers, Romeo's Foodland, and destined to be the jewel in the crown for the Romeo Group, no expense has been spared to build Adelaide's best supermarket.
Shopping Centre is due for completion in October 2017, in addition to the Supermarket the Centre will have 10 specialty shops plus kiosks, 150 on-site car parks and accommodation for 209 students.
Situated in the most dense zoning in the northern suburbs, Mawson Lakes is home to Uni SA, Technology Park and over 85 local and global companies.
The property is strategically located in what is now a well-established and sought after precinct, within walking distance of Adelaide's busiest suburban train station used by thousands of commuters each year and with easy access from Elder Smith Drive and Capital Street.

Mawson Plaza

The building next door (Emperor something) is still hopelessly slow. There was some hammer banging though.

Mawson Lakes has gone from what could have been a very nice high density mixed use area, to a collection of very ordinary concrete boxes. Nothing going up there would surely be inspiring people out their sprawling suburban homes. Even the street scaping, which was ordinary to start with, is deteriorating rapidly. The whole centre precinct already looks tired, tacky and cheap.

It should appeal to quite a few people on this forum, living in tiny confined spaces seems to be their preference.
Have you seen some of the buildings people live in in the city? Not much better then what's out at Mawson Lakes. Nothing inspiring at all about living in a dog box.

Mawson Lakes has a certain fate, especially far in the future.
Our state, our city, our future.

Modern Urban planners suggest the walkability of an area has a direct correlation to its desirability for people to live there. Unfortunately ML should have been designed with the train station as its core and the high street shops radiating off the station precinct, as in walkable European cities. Missed opportunity :(
Big infrastructure investments are usually under-valued and & over-criticized while in the planning stage. It's much easier to envision the here and now costs and inconveniences, and far more difficult to imagine fully the eventual benefits.

Could not agree more, however, given the existing layout of the centre is such a mess now, at least they could try to make the environment a bit more attractive. So many concrete boxes. Where is the red brick, stone features, copper steel and glass. Some decent landscaping beyond plane trees and dead grass/saltbush for God sake. My work makes me stay there when in Adelaide and it is bloody soul less. Hardly a good advertisement for high density living. 🙁

According to this week's Foodland Catalogue the Mawson Lakes Store will open on Monday 27th
November 2017 :D :)

As I found out today this was an error because I visited the shopping centre today to find out the parking gates have not yet been turned on, the travellator has not been turned on and then saw notice on front doors saying Grand Opening Wednesday 29th November 2017. I also spotted A Dyers truck which would be delivering goods to the store so that the store will be stocked.

Terry White Chemmart will be opening in the centre too soon.

So... adding a supermarket will reduce the requirement for car parks in the area????

There are plenty just across the road in the main shopping center.
