Am I the only one concerned about how this could end up? Seeing what Kyren have done with Dwell, and their marked change and “dumbing down” of that design, I’m not holding out hope here. For example if the facade is highly translucent with low reflectivity, it will make an already simple design less spectacular.

Don’t get me wrong, I hope this turns out to be a cracker, I’m just a touch nervous.

Quite right to be nervous- Dwell is awful. However, I don't think 'dumbing down' has been the problem here. Right from the first render it looked terrible and showed a complete lack of imagination on a site that had a lot of potential. Having said that though, I think all of there other big developments in Adelaide have all been pretty good and stayed fairly true to the original designs.

My reference to dumbing down was in relation to material used, I probably should have made that clearer! Looking at the North terrace student development, even though it's precast concrete too, the quality of casting and consistency of colour is great which adds cost. Dwell looks like there has been cost savings applied, not only in the grade of concrete used, but the casting. If you get up close, it's terrible. If the Adelaidean has standard low reflectivity/highly transparency glass, by the time you add curtains, resident furniture etc, we could have a 37 level clusterf**k.

I have confidence in this development as Kyren has other good quality developments such as 400KWS and PWC on Franklin Street.

I believe they've used different Architects on this project which could explain the "dumbing down" when compared to their previous projects.

I've often wondered this too, and not talking about this development in particular. Every project is a bit different and must judged accordingly.

But in regards to a high rise, if it were up to me then it would be once a fixed crane is fully installed and working. My opinion only.
