This is is now on public consultation. Looks like it should be proposed in a beachside suburb, but looks great IMO?
Application No:
DA/0683/2007
Address:
231-243 Waymouth Street, ADELAIDE 5000
Nature of Development:
Demolish existing buildings and construct a mixed use development comprising basement car parking, ground level commercial tenancies and 95 residential dwellings in buildings across the site varying in height between 3, 6 and 10 levels.

Not bad. What's the name of that little side street, Shannon Place or Crowther Street?

Good design. I just hope that it doesn't affect the live music at the Grace Emily.
If only Holdfast Shores had been as well designed as this.

Very nice!
The eastern aspect will loose some of it's view with the Precinct development, but aside from that, I like the design, and it will extend the skyline western aspect nicely!

Yeah, I like this one. It is good to see more glass occurring with residential development these days.

Aesthetically very 'Gold Coast' - tends to fit in with Currie St. dev't. with the curved faces. I like it. Good to see another departure from the bland box idea so prevalent for so long.
Can anyone comment on what the apartment availability as against demand ratio is llke in Adelaide at present?

Top work beamer. I've just resized and slightly touched up your scans.
Kind of reminds me of Wave Apartments, I love the new crop of designs popping up... great work by Woods Bagot.

looks great. Can't exactly imagine where this is, but from the picture it looks abit out of place, would've looked great in an area more open like Light Square or something... or even glenelg like beamer said. But having said that, still good to see stuff like this being proposed!

Looks great... (actually it looks like my cd tower at home...)
Great to see some proposals with a bit of work and thought going into them.
We have enough giant glass boxes now... (hell, i'm in one right now).
Here's hoping we see a shift towards a hell of a lot more interesting and unusual designs popping up around the CBD.

Interesting part of the city to put this in. When I first saw this on the cover page I thought it was Wave also. Keep this high quality design coming in though.

this develpment looks great. Adelade really desperately needs more curvalinear designs to contrast all the 'box-like' designs we are inundated with. now just recently wev'e seen this along with the currie st development it looks like conservative adelaide will allow it. i think with the near completion of the tram xtension is also responsible for developments like this and ipad coming up around the west end. i noticed i think its in the brochure for the gallery in the precinct project they also show where the future loop of the extension is proposed. with the tram loop i think we could see more development happening around the west end makng it a more vibrant node of the city, cheers

I remember posting this on the low to mid rise development thread:
"This was lodged with the ACC on 27/08/07
To demolish existing buildings at 231-235 Waymouth Street and construct a mixed use development comprising basement car parking, ground level commercial tenancies and various residential dwellings. No mention on the number of floors, but this development is expected to cost $23 million. The development has been categorised as Category 2."
However I didn't expect it to look this good. This is a very attractive building, which due to its isolated presence will make a great impact on the skyline. Hopefully it inspires more similar style buildings. Thanks Beamer for sharing!

This wouldn't be all that far from where the Precinct apartment towers will be right?

This is a great proposal and I hope it goes ahead. The design will breathe life into an otherwise drab street-scape. Kudos to the designers for this one!
