There was an article saying the Council is putting the old brickworks area ie under the Kiln etc on the market again (after many years). Also heard a rumour that Aldi could be looking at going where Dan Murphy’s is and Big W could be cut up for specialty including a BWS (or Dan Murphy’s?) inside the centre. The other site waiting to see what they do with it is the ex-Woolworths Harbourtown.

Woolworths owns Brickworks - they are not going to allow Aldi to step in on their turf.

Hang on didn’t the revamp only just happen? Why so much change already?

Woolworths owned it during construction but sold it on completion to Charter Hall for ~$75m

Probably because it's not doing great. The Woolworths and Dan Murphy's are generally busy, and a few of the eateries, but the rest of the centre struggles. There's still a couple of tenancies that have never been filled.

I really like the new Brickworks & generally shop there in preference to any of the other shopping centres in the western suburbs, even though its a bit further to travel. The shopping centre as a whole appears to be getting busier & busier with every passing year - there have been times on Saturday mornings this year when the car park was completely full & overflowing into Ashwin Pde - the centre would surely have to be meeting or exceeding its expected patronage levels if the car park is overflowing. Having said that, many of the sorts of small shops that historically inhabit shopping centres (homewares, small electronic goods, toy shops etc) are always going to really struggle to compete against online retailers like Amazon etc. nowadays. It's also very likely that the huge success of Woolworths online shopping is cannibalising business at its own retail stores.

I saw an article the other day that the only two SA stores earmarked for closure are Renmark and Port Augusta.

Shops like the newsagency, butcher, some cafes have either struggled or closed altogether. I think the Big Ws footprint is probably too big and its owner [Woolworths] could get a better return if reduced in size and a BWS/Dan Murphys etc added instead. Interesting if Aldi wants to move in as they need loading docks and the Dan Murphys site would work.

There's a new "newsagent" now, but it's absolute rubbish — I've literally got more magazines in my "to read" pile than they have on racks for sale. It's basically just a glorified SA Lotteries outlet. Hell, even the Woolworths has a more diverse selection.

Thank you for being a loyal customer at Woolworths Brickworks.
We'd love to hear from you about Woolworths Group’s proposed BWS liquor store to be located right next to Woolworths Brickworks.
To begin, can you please tell us;
How often do you purchase liquor from liquor retailers?
