O Bahn buses sure, but nothing else I catch ever does. Although to be fair with no football this season, I've caught a train once all year.

Are there still broad gauge Overland cars around that could run a "real" train in peak hour? I don't know if there are still any small broad gauge locomotives in the Adelaide area to book for it though - perhaps the rail museum has one?

Wouldn't the reduction in seats just mean more people need to stand up making them stand in closer proximity to eachother? I don't understand what difference removing seats will make?

Most people will refuse to sit next to other people, so you generally find 3 or 4 people sitting in a 6 seat bay. The aisles are also very tight and uncomfortable to stand in, so increasing the width aisle will allow more people to move through the car, and hopefully that will remove people crowding around the doors.

I would say that is the actual motivation rather than any temporary contagion concerns. Covid is being used in all sorts of ways to slip in changes that otherwise would cause community opposition.
