With this weeks announced pending closure (mid 2021) of West End Brewery at Thebarton surely this site would be a prime candidate as a replacement for Hindmarsh Stadium.
The previously proposed railyards site could then be used for a smaller 15K multiuse arena.

Why build a stadium 300m from the old one when nearly the whole purpose of building a new stadium would for it to be in a CBD location?

Why build a stadium 300m from the old one when nearly the whole purpose of building a new stadium would for it to be in a CBD location?

The main reason Hindmarsh Stadium should be replaced is because the current site has many limitations. A CBD location would be the ultimate goal but if a one size fits all solution is not suitable for some reason this would be worth considering.

The brewery site is 100% beyond doubt going to become a high end, high density residential development that is (maybe) a virtual extension of the Bowden TOD across the road, it's just a matter of who puts in the winning offer.

Surely the Crows jump all over the West End Brewery site. New Chairman John Olsen has made a point of saying that he wants to reconnect the club to the SANFL and local footy. Lion have said they're keen to keep the connection with the chimney displaying the SANFL premiers' colours each year. Perfect spot for them to build the facility they wanted to at North Adelaide before being bullied out by APPS nimbys and then the pandemic. It's accessible by tram after games or even by foot if a decent pathway connection was created along the river. And plenty of space to build a new oval where their senior side can train and their SANFL team can play home games. Which they currently don't (they play all games away at other SANFL venues), even though Port Adelaide's SANFL team play home games at Alberton. Without being rude, the Crows yield a much bigger influence over society. Their presence would activate the area on a far higher level than anything else.

I do not believe any option to remain in suburbia is being considered by the AFC.

Sites various people, and local media, are trying to push such as Thebarton Oval, Wayville Showgrounds and the Southwark Brewery site are just hot air, and none of the people are associated with the decision makers within the AFC.

I strongly believe the new AFC base will be inside the ACC limits.

Only the selection of the location within the ACC area is not fixed, and of course the timing for the move.

I think local media running stories, and people commenting in the comments sections of the media on suburban options is just a distraction and serves no purpose.

And secondly on the main topic of inner city stadiums, the two venue approach is still alive in background I believe, one for Memorial Drive to cover 15,000 strong crowds for hard court games (basketball, netball, tennis etc and medium size concerts) to be managed by the SMA, and the second for rectangular grass sport (soccer, rugby, rugby league etc) in a location not yet fixed. However, I can’t provide any evidence to substantiate this claim, only hearsay.

Who cares about the crows, their potential move has nothing to do with a new inner city stadium as a new inner city stadium isn't intended for use by AFL. The crows can move to another galaxy for all anyone cares about their plan to take over a public aquatic facility.

There's absolutely no way that anyone would pay the high premium on the cost of the land for the brewery site for a training oval.

I’m assuming you missed all of the information readily available about their planned development at the Aquatic Centre site in North Adelaide?
