Vision: Light Square Tower - 100f / 500m
Re: Vision: Light Square Tower - 100f / 500m
An Adelaide Architect told me that this was not a proposal at all, it was just a concept to get a debate going about building taller towers in Adelaide. Not 500m ones rather 200m+ towers, as we are lacking them atm

Anyone who believed it was for real, had rocks in their head. As we all know no one at ADL or ACC would let it happen. Towers of 200 metres and over (up to about 250 metres) is about right and it would suit the Adelaide square mile perfectly.tstaylor wrote:An Adelaide Architect told me that this was not a proposal at all, it was just a concept to get a debate going about building taller towers in Adelaide. I should like to purchase the Polites building on the corner of Pirie and King William streets and its KWS neighbour, push them over, and put our nice new tower there. Higher-density skylines FTW.

i may be wrong, but i think that the Polities building is heritage listed.Omicron wrote:I should like to purchase the Polites building on the corner of Pirie and King William streets and its KWS neighbour, push them over, and put our nice new tower there. Higher-density skylines FTW.

It's preferable to Wakefield House; I'll give it that.Mants wrote:at least it isnt a dirty concrete box

I don't understand your reply, why the aggressive undertones? I am simply clearing up an issue. And yes, the MLC Building in Victoria Square is heritage listed.Mants wrote:[

Yes, there was a plan to build a 300m tower on Mt Lofty and a Gondola/Cable car up the side of the mountain. You can guess what happened to the proposal.crawf wrote:I would love to see a observation tower built on the Mt Lofty Summit (replacing the CFS and transmission towers). Imagine the views of the Adelaide Metropolitan and Piccadilly Valley.
There were once plans to build this and a large resort years ago...
Re: Vision: Light Square Tower - 100f / 500m
There was also a proposal to build a ski lift up the eastern slope and build an artificial snowfield in the Piccadilly Valley. That never got up either.
Crawf, I would hope that the Observation Tower you wish would go up at Mount Lofty would include a fire tower and communications mast. The fire tower on Mount Lofty is a crucial part of the CFS's fire management system.
