This morning:
I was concerned that it would visually overpower Parliament House, but I don't think it does.

Nice shot. Imagine that view if the dome had been finished atop Parliament House!

A lot of guys using tools in there, quite loud. Definitely something is planned for that site.

I’d love to see the dome addition still, something to be considered if and when Parliament House eventually undergoes any sort of exterior restoration works. We’ve seen upgrades to ARS as part of a history preservation effort, the same could be argued here. I’d also love to see the three plane trees removed from the front of Parliament, make the entrance prominent like it use to be.

I'm all for trees, but I agree that Parliament House loses some prominence because of those ones - chop them down.Patrick_27 wrote: ↑Thu Sep 07, 2023 3:23 pmI’d love to see the dome addition still, something to be considered if and when Parliament House eventually undergoes any sort of exterior restoration works. In Europe several Gothic churches were completed to the designers' vision hundreds of years after those designers died. Cologne Cathedral only had its famous spires finished in the nineteenth century. Here in Adelaide, St Francis Xavier Cathedral only got its present form in the 1990s. I'd love to see the dome built on our Parliament House, but the chances of it happening are jack.

Most South Australians probably don't know about the fact there was meant to be a dome on parliament.
You guys could start a social media campaign to push for it?

This has been suggested before and I respectfully strongly disagree with that one - obvious climate and environmental reasons for not chopping down mature trees aside, this part of North Terrace is a major route for tens of thousands of pedestrians walking to and from the station each day and, for me, the amenity provided by the dense shade far outweighs that provided by a clearer view of Parliament House.Ursus Maritimus wrote: ↑Fri Sep 08, 2023 10:38 pmI'm all for trees, but I agree that Parliament House loses some prominence because of those ones - chop them down.

I would agree that in a city which hits 40+ in summer, having busy walkways have shade is important.
Would also suggest that if Parliament is so exceptional we shouldn't block views of it, we probably shouldn't be building office blocks practically on top of it.

If I was some sort of absolute monarch, I would definitely have blocked building this thing because I don't think the Festival Plaza right next to two heritage buildings should be clogged up by a modern office building. But since it's been built and it's definitely not my decision, I'm glad that it looks good. I think it's one of the best-looking office buildings in Adelaide.
If they build another tower, I hope it's not stuck in a weird-looking place. Colonel Light's vision was for a spacious, planned city, not a place where we just throw a building wherever it fits.

Is Deloitte's logo going to be put up on the north facing side of the building?
