The house next to the gym has been vacant for at least a year following a fire. Other than that and the shop on the corner next to it, what else is going to be demolished?

I tried to compare the cleared land in the fly through with recent overhead Google Maps imagery. It seems to show:
  • At least three houses missing south of the United fuel shop (perhaps a laydown area during construction?)
  • Five properties cleared between the Gym and Main Street - Streetview suggests three businesses and two houses, to allow space for widening Grange Road
  • The house east of OTR - possibly to widen Grange Road in conjunction with shortening the OTR canopy
  • Two houses and a shop between the Gym and East Avenue, but one of the houses is already an orthodontist. The other is presumably the one you said has been vacant
  • The western side of East Avenue is cleared back to almost opposite Morrell Street - Europa Pools in a former house, plus three houses before McLean Street and I think 3 or 4 after it
Both fuel shops seem to end up on peninsulas into vacant land, presumably to avoid paying htem out them having to remediate the sites.

Thanks for that. From my quick look at the fly over, I only really noticed the buildings on the immediate corner next to the gym. I will have to take some photos soon when passing through.

No worries. It will be interesting to hear the ground truth results, and whether it will be as it appears. Hopefully any residents get enough compensation to be able to move to somewhere suitable and nearby in the tight housing market.

Drivers often underestimate the speed of a road bike so assume the one the driver overtook five seconds ago is nowhere near them any more, but the back of their car hasn't cleared the bike yet.
What I don't understand is why some of them ride against traffic. IE say on Marion Rd, they're heading north in the gutter in the southbound lane. This should be illegal. What would the reaction be if there was a car on the wrong side of the road to bypass congestion in the same style that ambulances do, but without any authority whatsoever?

I'm pretty sure this is already illegal. It only is allowed in certain low speed streets in the city such as Bentham Street, and that is signed.

That IS illegal. Bike lanes operate in the same direction as the adjacent all-vehicles lanes. Anybody riding north on the southbound bike lane is just as bad as your car example.

Demolition is progressing pretty well for this one. Everything north of Grange Rd, with the expectation of the house on the northern side of McLean St has either already been knocked down, or has demolition crews working on it.

South of Grange Rd, everything has been knocked down with the exception of the two houses at 4 and 6 Holbrooks. These are quite clearly empty.
