What a disgusting hideous eyesore. Can’t wait to see this thrown in the trash bin by SCAP.

Hi everyone, this is so disappointing from a couple of angles. I was going to post from Singapore during ITB Asia a b2b travel trade show (23-25 OCT) but have been sick as a dog (currently in London after visiting Amsterdam and shortly off to Brussels). I actually spoke to the sales and marketing manager of Wyndham for Asia Pacific. She said nothing was on the cards for Adelaide but was disappointed no developer had come up with a solid proposal. Looks like we will have to wait a while to see Wyndham establish themselves in Adelaide. Many of you are disappointed and rightly so. The opportunity was there for the taking.
Developments like this should be rejected they do nothing to further our tourism industry! Let’s hope the powers to be see it as we do.
Cheers

Without shadow of a doubt, the worst pitch I've ever seen for a luxury hotel:
I can just feel it now. Lying in your bed thinking "thank god my being here keeps the vandals and needle junkies at bay"

Absolutely terrible. Such prime real estate in a market begging for more apartments & hotel rooms & THAT'S the best they could come up with.

From hero to zero. Even the new render looks half hearted by comparison.
I’d rather they just renovate the existing building at this point. That rooftop extension is a ludicrous idea.

Abomination.
Is there any reason why the initial proposal stalled?

SAPC should reject this. I'd rather the site be empty for a couple more years until a better long term plan (or better yet, the original plan!) eventuates for this prime CBD site than allow it to go to waste for short term gain. Any "hotel" would be a three star at best, given the dilapidated structural integrity of the existing building.
It's bullshit like this that only reinforces the negative stereotypes about Adelaide and how everything is done half arsed and on the cheap.

Typical South Australian outcome.
The state government should create a 'sovereign' state wealth fund to snap up sites like this, earmark them for significant development and help attract serious investors and developers.

If I have to glue myself to the metro building to stop this disgusting deplorable monolith of a “proposal” (if you can even call it that), from getting built, I will.
This simply cannot be allowed to proceed. This is like a year 9 essay written by chatGPT type proposal. Shit everyway you look at it. This can’t be build on our premier boulevard of King William Street.
I agree with whoever said above, that this design has gone from hero, to zero.

It’s a shame that “Public Notification” is not required for this polished turd.
