But if QF are just trying to use their 'reputation' to slice a bit of traffic from an already developed route, they should be ashamed...and just not waste our time. In this case, just make sure the Adelaide to Darwin flights of JQ and QF mesh with JQ and QF flights from Darwin to Singapore and Bali. People who want to fly Qantas then can, and the rest of us need not be bothered.

Agree with everyone here about SIN being redundant. I would have thought ADL-HKG would make more sense if their plan is to start flights imminently. Aside from CX delaying their return here, QFF pax could at least then try their hand at decent reward flights to other Asian or even Euro destinations on Cathay.

Qantas could make Adelaide - Singapore work easily. It’s a six hour trip and return fares on SQ at the moment are regularly $1500 or higher.

There’s plenty of demand, I feel the Singapore tourist market is underserved, because they tend to focus on the other states but love food, wine and outdoor experiences. Qantas passengers would feed into Jetstar Asia’s network to Phuket, Bangkok, Penang etc.

Furthermore, I feel there are opportunities for passengers travelling to Singapore from the likes of Canberra and Hobart, as the transit experience in Adelaide is far superior to Melbourne, and especially Sydney.

All this means more bums on seats.

Qantas ran Adelaide-Delhi direct as a temporary measure during covid, prior to them getting planes with the range that enabled them to shift the service to their beloved Sydney and Melbourne. Anecdotally it was pretty successful - although I don't know about the actual statistics from when it was operating. Aside from London, Delhi is the biggest unserved route out of Adelaide, so you would think there would be reasonable demand.

Only if they help bring the prices down and I'd welcome that but I still wouldn't fly QF (whatever aircraft they fly). My preference is set in stone.

Singapore as a destination has lost a bit of its lustre with the $SGD continuing its climb. As for layover and transit still one of the best there is and if QF wants to take advantage of Jetstar's Asian network good for them if they pull it off.

As rev said QF should look at new markets, and yes rubberman it would be great if they did as you ask, but there is a good reason it will be Singapore. Saltwater alluded in his post. Makes sense. How well will they compete with SIA? It has to be on price and quality. The question is will the Airbus A321XLR narrow body, although a great aircraft, be up to it?

If it was Delhi or Mumbai it wouldn't be long before SIA and Tata Bros got Air India onto it.

I flew ADL to Singapore on Qantas in 1983 and 1984 on the way to London . How far we've come. (2)..

Virgin Australia is about to lose customers to Jetstar and QANTAS as they suspend flights to DRW from 22 June. Their excuse? Relocating capacity to more popular routes that include BNE (two daily flights), MEL (9 per week) and PER (5 to 7 weekly).

Cathay are dragging their feet putting Adelaide at the bottom of their resumption list even to the point of losing customers to their arch-rival SIA.

Do South Aussies actually want QANTAS back? Fellow oneworld member Qatar and partner Emirates cover every conceivable destination west of India. The only destinations would be in SE Asia and they have good competition even here (as full service).
