The fact that Mic isn’t speaking in here is probably a good thing. Means he’s most likely extremely busy getting this thing going.

I think that's likely, but also CDJ was very active in touting SA1 until he went dark and it died.VinyTapestry849 wrote: ↑Tue Jan 14, 2025 10:05 amThe fact that Mic isn’t speaking in here is probably a good thing. Means he’s most likely extremely busy getting this thing going.

Really wish that could have gotten off the ground. A shame

I don't see any snake oil. It is a large investment of time and resources just to get the thing spoken about. Unlike CDJ, Mic has been transparent with the plan of action as well as the obstacles and hurdles. The fact that they got the airport onboard was huge last year. Then the community engagement meeting. It may be delayed, but I am not chucking the baby out with the bathwater. They wouldn't do any of that if there was no plan to get it built.Nort wrote: ↑Tue Jan 14, 2025 5:09 pmI think that's likely, but also CDJ was very active in touting SA1 until he went dark and it died.VinyTapestry849 wrote: ↑Tue Jan 14, 2025 10:05 amThe fact that Mic isn’t speaking in here is probably a good thing. Oh yeah, I have a lot of time for Micbara as a result of his engagement here and elsewhere, he and the Masons clearly care about this development.HiTouch wrote: ↑Fri Jan 17, 2025 2:01 pmI don't see any snake oil. Objection was only to the premise that we could read anything from the silence one way or another (and honestly he hasn't really been silent very long at all anyway). I fully expect that in five years this tower will be part of our skyline.

Hi team!
Sorry for the long pause between updates. We're waiting on heritage management plan consent from the minister, we met with Hon Susan Close, the planning minister and the Premier yesterday.
Because I've been away from this for a bit I'm sure I'll read back through some comments that suspect we've shelved the project. Not true, we're alive and happy.
I'd love to show you the revised drawings we took the Premier through yesterday (looks the same from the outside but WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYY cooler on the inside). The alternative scheme without a museum will have more hotel rooms, more cool stuff (secret for now), same preservation of heritage.
As soon as I can show you I will.

As long as the building will have sparkly lights on the exterior, I'll be happy haha

Can't wait to see your project progress, onwards and upwards!

Excellent! This will be the most iconic building in Adelaide when completed

Great to hear this project is still alive and well! Very keen to hear more updates and see construction begin!

Hey team,
I had a chance to read back through the last few pages:
A few answers for you all.
1) Was the museum critical to the project? Not at all, it was a long shot but one we thought was important to go after, a once in a generation opportunity. From day one we've always had an alternative scheme. Just because the Government can't spring for a $150mil museum doesn't mean we're not going to keep the focus on our states history. The building theme and DNA is South Australia's people, events, achievements, industries and story.
2) Stakeholders/tenants - Westin is not a lease, hotel agreements in Australia are usually operator agreements. In this case we own the building and appoint them as an operator with a multi-year (20 year) agreement. The reason this is important is that with a lease the land owner usually only gets a fixed lease payment. As the owner with an operator the land owner receives the full profit of the operation less an operating fee. They provide the brand, operating procedures, staff management, design knowledge and marketing strength, we provide the building. The other areas of the building we're open to appointing an operator but we will retain ownership. It's a more volatile income stream but it's far more profitable.
3) No we're not doing apartments for sale, we will have long stay facilities that sit within the hotel complex for visitors to SA who need to stay for 3 months + (eg defense, Uni etc).
4) No we won't have any commercial tenants. It's a tourism, hotel and exhibition building.
5) Is the observation deck at risk.... nope. We're bringing some of the best ideas from around the world to deliver something that is just stunning, it's secret. I can't promise New York views but what we have is still beautiful and can make sure the experience is world class.
6) Will the height change? Nope.
7) Timeframes - we've been in the hands of the Minister for some time to approve the heritage management agreement, everything else is ready to go for demolition. I'm meeting with planning today to go through the variations to carpark, number of rooms etc and we have a commitment from the various departments to accelerate things (without skipping steps or cutting corners of course) to help us keep on track.
