Hopefully the luxury precinct the city needs.
There is a referral to the Airport authority so it will be over 100m

Interesting. Any ideas on what part is to be demolished?

I'd guess closer to North Terrace side then the mall side is where they'll be demolishing. Hopefully the North Terrace frontage.

Not quite. 1998, rather than 1968.

What's the specific height for this location that would need airport approval to hit?

Could this be why Tiffany and Co are relocating? Would make sense... This is Adelaide Central Plaza, no?
Shame that it's not the neighbouring Johnnies carpark.

Pretty sure anything over 103m (OLS height limit) gets referred to AAL.

It was this project that got me into buildings. I'd love them to revisit it but it won't happen.

Great site for luxury apartments or an international hotel chain.
David Jones would probably want to reduce their leased floor space to lower the rent too.

The old Johnnies car park is for sale, expected to go for over $70 million.
Bit late to knock that one down since they build apartments above it.
And yeh this one is ACP, good point about Tiffany's. Fingers crossed its the North Terrace frontage that gets bulldozed.

I remember this proposal too in the late 90''s, at the time Adelaide and S.A was still stuck in the economic malaise caused by the State Bank debacle. It was touted as being an iconic structure that Adelaide could be recognised by and restore a bit of state pride.
Back then I thought it was super exciting and visionary, but in hindsight I think it would've dated quickly and probably be looked at now with regret.

They downsized in Bourke Street some time ago, so it's no surprise. Wouldn't surprise me if this has a luxury brand element to it over a few floors, could be why there is an apparent reluctance from brands opening in Burnside. Whilst this is an exciting development prospect, I don't actually mind the current North Terrace facade as I think it's of a good scale and I could think of better sites along this strip to redevelopment, but hopefully this is a catalyst for bigger things and also softens the neighbouring Switch building.

I just read about that, and yeah, given they'd have the reacquire upwards of 50 apartments (or more?), would be an impossible task. The only hope left for that building is if the new owners revisit the original plans to build apartments on the front facade of the building (as well as what is on top).
