I went to the opening on Thursday and took some photos, along with recording video for an upcoming video on my YouTube channel (short blog type thing). It's a shame that most shops aren't open yet, and being behind schedule didn't do it any favours, but I have a feeling this place is really going to shine once everything is up and running.

If Gucci and LV sign these will be there spots, LV obviously gets the biggest and will fix that ugly mural on the outside and Gucci second biggest, then the rest we can only guess what’s gonna go as I think burnside is gonna find it hard to lease the rest to other designer labels, but will we see July next year. 🫣

Went to burnside for the first time sinnce expansion opened today. It is nice in terms of aesthetics but I’d say maybe 25% of the stores are open in the new section.

I saw there was signs sayings ADIDAS and sheet society coming soon which I don’t think were reported previously. The Ralph Lauren store is nearly finished as has OPSM, Universal Store, Simone Perele.

None of the hospitality venues are open yet or even look like have started fit out.

So what is a reasonable timeframe by when we will know if Louis Vuitton has signed? Will it really take till July next year to find out?

Burnside village are wanting designer shops to be open July next year it’s what there calling there phase 3 plan, with phase 2 being September, I think if they want LV and other brands to open in July they are gonna have to have them signed before Christmas so it gives them 5 months to do fit outs.

A large chunk of the centre to remain empty until that? And it isn't guaranteed either.

Messy.

A lot of the old part is now empty because those stores moved to the new section. Overall not that many new “additions”. I’m guessing they hope to have them leased filled by the next stage opening. By staging it it does allow the “hype” to continue a bit longer than just one opening.

That's true, though I would think the impact, the wow factor, is quite tempered and if you're not too impressed with stage one, why come back for the other stages if a lot of the offerings aren't that new and not as lux as promised?

I hope that isn't the case and we get some great additions to the centre. July 2026 is a long way from now.

I know someone who works in burnside they said a lot of people are disappointed and felt like burnside overhyped it, they also said a lot of the locals are complaining because it’s not the usual burnside crowd it’s more the Marion and ttp crowd coming.

And year burnside are probably worried as about getting leases especially designer.

Cheers for the reply

Someone get LV to sign asap, they’ll do the whole suburb of burnside a favour by fixing that abhorrent mural.
