Just to be a tad nit picky, petrol powered vehicles don't have injectors, only diesel engines do.trdrz wrote:good to see some rev heads on here![]()
I've got a S13 Silvia at the moment. Gets me from A-B but is such a petrol sucker. Only get about 300km of a full tank! (car is n/a and auto ffs!)
Hrm..maybe i should change the air filter or clean the injectors.
Anyway, does your car smell like it is running 'rich'? By rich, I mean that the smell of petrol is stronger then it normall would be. If that is the case, then simply service the air filter with an air gun (unless it is almost black, then get a new one). Also, see if the spark plugs are reasonably clean with no carbon deposits or other muck on them. Check the gap in between the electrodes and then compare with the service manual if you have one. Once they have been cleaned and gapped, the car should combust the fuel better. With a clean air filter, there will be more air in the cylinder and will burn not quite so rich.

Then what are those things sticking out of my fuel rail and into my inlet manifold?

Re: Cars!!!
As hinted by my username I drive a 2005 VZ Commodore SV6, and while performance wise it doesn't rate a mention compared to other users cars mentioned here, its comfortable and spacious (good when you well over 6 feet tall!). Its not bad on juice as well, if driven moderately it returns about 10 litres per 100km around the city, which means it should get me 750km's out of a tank (however for some reason gauge tells me I'm next to empty when I get through 60 litres).
I'm dreaming my next car will be one of these:

However will need a pay rise, a second job and quite a number of generous sponsers before that happens!

Re: Cars!!!
If it's a 3 wire job, it's most likely a Bosch Oxygen Sensor, in which case you can buy them from Sprint for around $50-60 bucks.. i picked up a Bosch sensor for the EL Falcon, spliced it and it works fine.trdrz wrote: im still a car noob. How much do one of these cost dude? can u get em anywhere?

Re: Cars!!!
I think you're getting fuel injectors mixed up with spark plugs.Will409 wrote:Just to be a tad nit picky, petrol powered vehicles don't have injectors, only diesel engines do.
Re: Cars!!!
I am working on a Cert.1 in Automotive and the difference between petrol and diesel engines has been rammed in so many times this year it isn't funny.
Re: Cars!!!
Well i'm pretty sure that I don't even qualify for this thread given that I am currently driving a totally standard 88 Toyota Corolla 4wd Wagon (used to be Tercel). I'd love some inspiration for how I could improve it though. I know absolutely sweet F.A about engines but I have friends who know something. Problem is they are useless for ideas. I'll not be able to afford the purchase of a new car anytime soon and besides this thing runs fine. But I could probably afford to do bits and pieces to it. Any suggestions?
I used to own a 72 LJ Torana 2.8 straight six. So pissed I sold it.

Re: Cars!!!
As above, Will409, diesel motors don't have an ignition system but both diesel and petrol need a fueling system. You're probably getting it mixed up with spark plugs.Bulldozer wrote:I think you're getting fuel injectors mixed up with spark plugs.Will409 wrote:Just to be a tad nit picky, petrol powered vehicles don't have injectors, only diesel engines do.
