Welcome to the forums...
In answer to your question...Does anyone really care, This project was delayed, is small in comparisson to other Ferris Wheels and it looks horrible.
To somehow put it in perspective the 120M Ferris wheel at the docklands in Melbourne has all of its 6, 28M arms already installed and is well on the way to being completed and work started on it in late June 2007.

From The Messenger:
Ferris wheel ready for Christmas
20Nov07
THE first of 16 gondolas have been put on the Bay's ferris wheel, with the $1.5 million ride expected to be open by Christmas.
Beachouse manager Peter Rimington said the opening of the ride, meant to have been in October, had been delayed because of the project's ``complexity''.
``Hopefully we're here before Father Christmas,'' he said.
``At the moment we're getting two gondolas on per day.''
The single-arm ferris wheel is an Australian-first.
Unlike other Australian ferris wheels which are supported by eight legs, it is held up by one giant column.
Mr Rimington said once all gondolas were on, a platform for ridegoers to get on and off the wheel would be built.
A competition to decide who will be first to ride the ferris wheel will be held closer to the opening date.
Rides will cost up to $5 and operate daily in summer, Sunday to Thursday, from 9am to 9pm, and Friday and Saturday, 9am to 11pm.

Yeah, seriously. What were they thinking? And don't get me started about the incredibly meagre size (smaller than the surronding buildings)... this is a fleeting children's attraction, nothing more. Just a shame it's appearing on such a prominent site.thechap wrote:Friggin hell they're ugly!

Actually, the reason Adelaide's Luna Park closed was that it struggled financially and was more or less forced to close down. It simply wasn't making the money it needed to survive.AG wrote:There's a story around the place that the rollercoaster that was at Glenelg's Luna Park was closed after an accident sometime before the Luna Park itself was closed. So they reassembled the rollercoaster at Sydney's Luna Park at Milson's Point.

Oh God!
What a shame. The rest of the structure (apart from the gondolas) looks very small, but quite nice. Why on earth didn't they go for white gondolas, in a stylish shape. It wouldn't have even cost any more surely???
