I have noticed some activity here over the last few days, today looks like they are checking out where the old pipes lie underneath the petrol station. i imagine it would be a bit of a job considering there used to be petrol pumps on site

You're correct in saying it does take a lot of time and effort, but it's something that's done very often these days. There's been countless petrol stations in the suburbs that have been closed down and developed. In Modbury, there used to be one next to the Clovercrest Shopping Centre, and now it's two story retail/office.

Hills nod to 13-storey headquarters project
RUSSELL EMERSON
REAL ESTATE EDITOR
Hills Industries has entered a joint venture with listed property company Goodman International to develop Hills' new Adelaide Headquarters. Hills managing director David Simmons said the development was a "one-off" and did not signify the start of a new business division for the company.
"The opportunity was put to us and the development was a good one," Ms Simmons said. "It was a single opportunity and the board decided to do it...but we are not property developers. "We had a chance to leverage off (Goodmans) coming into the city."
Goodman Asia Pacific's cheif executive, David van Aaholt said the project, it's first in Adelaide, showed the company's commitment to the Adelaide market. The joint venture has not yet lodged a development application, but it is understood the proposed building at 413-427 King William St would have 13 levels, of which only "two or three" would be occupied by Hills. Expressions of interest , in the other levels had already been received, Mr Simmons said.
A 10-storey office and retail developmet has been proposed for the Repco site, opposite Hills. The project was motivated by the need for a new corporate headquarters, Mr Simmons said.

13 levels? The nearby Optus Centre is 16 levels, so this should make a decent impression on the skyline.
[COM] Re: #Proposed: 421 - 429 King William St - Office Tower
It's actually only 14 levels so should be of similar height.Omicron wrote:13 levels? The nearby Optus Centre is 16 levels, so this should make a decent impression on the skyline.

I always kind of thought that building (Optus) would be much taller than 14 levels... I guess it gives that impression with no other high-rise buildings nearby.

i just saw a render for this one on channel 7 news. its a little bit shorter than the optus building and is very rectalinear in design. IMO not greatly imaginative in design. similar to CC1 tower with window shades on the northern face. it should be a welcome addition to King william st south, cheers
[COM] Re: #Proposed: 413-427 King William St - 13 level
yeh I saw it to. It looked same height or taller but might have been the angle. Lots of different shades of green and very boxy. I don't know where they got the renders from I have been searching everywhere.

[COM] Huge announcement at 10:00 a.m
Lord Mayor Michael Harbison was on 5AA this morning and revealed that an iconic Australian company will be moving to Adelaide. He said that there will be a "significant building" constructed on King William Street. A caller rang in to say the company was BHP, but this is not confirmed. A few other callers are saying that the company is Hills (however, they already have an office in Adelaide).
This announcement was from Michael Harbison and absolutely not a hoax.

So is there going to be more information @ 10am, is that what you're suggesting?

This still could be Hills as there current office is at Edwardstown and maybe he means moving to the CBD?MaximumForce wrote:Lord Mayor Michael Harbison was on 5AA this morning and revealed that an iconic Australian company will be moving to Adelaide. Hope it is BHP, but you would think it would come from the premier not the lord mayor..

Would be totally out of the blue if it was anyone but HILLS...
For starters BHP has offices in Grenfell St so they would not be moving
into Adelaide... I reckon it is HILLS and we already know they plan
on moving into a new office building to be built next to the Optus Building
on KWS.
