Oh, and don't get yourself jiggy about increased floor space, I believe its still the same height, the developers acquired another two properties adjacent the development which they'll expand the floorspace of the building onto. Well, from my memory anyways.

I think BankSA should buy the naming rights. They are Adelaides largest financial institution with thousands of employees, yet are getting trounced by the majors when it comes to tower naming rights in their own city...

Watch this space. I was at the meeting. It appears the developers have bought out the adjacent appartments in Gilbert place. I bet the building will get bigger.
Cheers
Good to see you guys are finally coming up to speed, I suggested the increase of footplate sometime ago but it seemed to go through to the keeper. They bought the four apartments and the medical centre and it seems they're going to squeeze in settlement just before the janurary 21st council meeting.mkat wrote:Guys its not heritage listed. I still think its to increase the footplate. Will wrote:
I'm not 100% sure but the neighbouring property in Gilbert Place which was acquired is a local heritage place. The reason why it was acquired was so the developers would not have to pay compensation to the tenats whilst construction was being undertaken, something which could last 24 months.
cheers

Just to clarify, my understanding of the proposal as it is for the moment (in red) and the acquired properties (in blue) which will make way for the expansion of the floorspace. The northern elevation will essentially be one big glass wall?
[CAN] Re: #Approved : 123m 31 Level Office Tower 20 - 22 Currie St
Yes basically that is correct Shuz. People need to read back a couple of pages where this was discussed. There will still be a slight curve in this northern glass elevation thankfully. The lifts have also been moved to the centre of the building, therefore no visible lifts, unlike the first proposal.

It's one hell of a building, that's for sure.

Seriously though, whether it's more floors or bigger floorspace, bigger buildings and any extra development is good for Adelaide... although of course, I still eagerly wait for more 100m+ proposals to start springing up. Hopefully this building will be a catalyst for greater heights than ever before. Whenever it starts... hmmm, speaking of which, what's the hold-up for Spire? Thought that would have started construction ages ago. Well let's hope we don't wait much longer. At least the Conservatory is going on.

I think Spire is starting in April or May this year.

Any ideas who will be the anchor tenant for this new building and who is the developer?

No tenant has been secured yet, and the developer is Lilly NomineesJules wrote:This is my first post to this forum!

Good news!
The changes made to this development, including the top-floor restaurant and extension of floor space will most likely receive planning APPROVAL at the coming ACC development assessment panel meeting, next Monday.
On a side note, one of the representations made against this development is by the owners of the Pancake kitchen, who amongst other reasons, base their opposition to the development on "Adelaide does not need another restaurant"!

That's great news. I hope this development can find a tenant soon (like BHP) | so it can start end of this year.

Excellent! Can't wait for the construction.

It'll need a tenant before they start construction.

Completely agree....Adelaide people simply don't need to eat. The ACC should adopt a new policy of closing as many restaurants as possible before it is too late! It could be a new direction in fighting the obesity epidemic! Will wrote:Good news!
