Perth's Waterfront Redevelopment

#1 Post by AG » Wed Feb 13, 2008 5:54 pm

Here are some images to draw some inspiration from. These are renders of the proposed waterfront redevelopment on the Perth City foreshore by the Swan River on the south side of the CBD. The new Esplanade train station that opened in December is going to become of significant importance to the area once it gets going.

That looks so good and suites Perth so well. Image something of that size being proposed in Adelaide. In Adelaide that tall tower would be watered down to like a 10 level tower that would look like it's from the 80's. Perth does this and here in Adelaide the city is still fighting over our 'majestic skyline'. God i wish Adelaide had the willpower and attitude to do some serious planning like this. Well done Perth

Looks great. Is it a serious proposal? Skyscraper and all?

It is indeed a serious proposal.

There is a website for this proposal: http://www.perthwaterfront.com.au/

Looks like anything that is civic space would be built by the government, so that's the new waterfront foreshore / museum etc.. and the towers would be privately built.

Hope Adelaide will wake up from it's slumber.. we need stuff like this to attract people to our state and put us on the map. Being overseas at the moment, whenever I say i'm Australian i'm asked if i'm from Melbourne, Sydney or Perth.. when I say Adelaide they can't even pronounce it properly... it's a little disappointing to say the least.

So while Perth are doing this, we're bickering about sunken lawns in Victoria Square.
How embarrassing.

Man those blokes in Perth must be laughing at us... They propose these new scrapers along with the 500m museum and 1.1b stadium and we can't even get the O'Connell Street proposal off the ground at 6 floors. What a joke this city is - more realistic is what a joke this city council is. It is time for the government to take over the running of the city and Nth Adelaide. We are falling further and further behind and this is not helped by the incompetence of the city council. We literally are the butt of all jokes in Australia.

With so many render photos, I think they are serious about building it.

They really are fighting against Brisbane hey, or even Melbourne I must say. Adelaide however, is happy as it is.
