I wonder what all the extremists that were against the tram line extension have to say now! I suspect they have all gone quiet!

I agree, growth of 3.6% compared to other states is quite low! and with the global downturn and possibly the Chinese economy slowing, this could have a negative out look for SA as we are going to be relying heavily on our resources to spur growth in the economy.

I see it this way. We have had a big improvement over the past year. The trend is towards getting better. Even the AFR implied that. Where the other states are slowing down and we are increasingly improving is sogmificant. . lThe implictions are also that other states will slow on the trend indictors. Give it a couple of years for a measurable outcome. Note also, as read in Courier Mail a few days ago (and on another thread) - bldg development has slowed from 25 approvals/proposals to 5. Adelaide increasing to 45 over 10 floors. Tells a story.

May I just ask, looking at the Construction 2008 datasheet, there appears to be 41 buildings U/C, approved or proposed over 10 floors, this figure increasing to 52 for those over 7 floors. Previously in your statement, you claim that Adelaide has 45 buildings over 10 floors U/C, proposed or approved. Am I missing out on something? Or are you including the metropolitian developments as well in that figure?

my apologies Shuz. More like I missed out on something. Your figure is accurate. Having said that, the intercity comparison makes a very interesting read. (Bribane fgures are accurate - but according to the Courier Mail).

Still progressing slowly but it looks as though they have done the first core pour. Quick pic from today:

Anyone know why this bldg has been so slow in construction to this point - the speculative background maybe???

I said it a few pages back but I think its slow progress is mainly a result of waiting for the approval for an increase in building height which seemed to delay the construction of the core and that northern boundary wall which required further works to make it stable. On top of that the neighbours complained about the use of that NE access lane by trucks and got lawyers involved so they had to move dirt again and put the access back to where it is now to the south.

Thanks urbansg - did not realise anything concerning the issue picked up with lawyers.

I just get a little concerned after the problems written about (Courier Mail) involving the construction industry in Brisbane - partly a result of current economic conditions - something pertinent to us as well.(Hence the comment about speculative bldg).

It's guess it's time the developers can come out and tell us the truth. They're bored, so they thought they would practice their dexcavating, concrete pouring etc on this site. Soon the dirt will be returned and the site will once again become derelict.....
