I reckon IAG looks pretty ordinary. Sure it's got glass but apart from that, it's just a cube. *yawn* Thanks for the pics though.

Top pics Pies.

IAG has turned out okay. Its bulkiness really doesn't sit well with the buildings on the corner, but on the up side the glass facade looks kinda cool in overcast conditions. Gutted that the weird funky thing at the bottom was deleted from the design.

We'll have to wait for Santos to be finished before we can judge IAG, as clearly they're designed to be perved on together, not as stand alones.

I know where you're coming from Algernon - in some ways, looking at Pikey's first picture and not having seen these in person, the buildings to the right of IAG seem to have become the anomaly scale-wise now, atleast on this side of the street.

I like IAG actually, very funky glass. But its true that Adelaide needs to get away from the standard box a bit more often than its doing, even in the more recent designs.

For those of you interested in technical data, I finally got a reply from Hindmarsh about my enquiries about the building's heights.

IAG:

*34.3m to top of main roof
*38m (approx) to top of structure

Santos:

*49.1m to top of main roof
*61m (approx) to top of structure

Core looks to be at about 11ish in the box and plates up to 7. I had a quick look today and noticed that the glazing brackets are on so expect glass very soon.

Glazing looks about done on IAG with the top two levels above the carpark starting, and then thats it.

The top two floors on the back half are obviously going to be office space and will get cladding or glass. As for the car park below, it would seem so.

If they go ahead with a resi tower for the site, that'll block that out.

The glass is fantastic, but that's about it.

Overall I think it's an aweful, piecemeal building.

Actually, it might not end up looking as bad as I thought this morning.

Just walked past and the plastic's come off the level 1 cladding. It's a mix of platinum and silver colours and doesn't look too bad.

If they cover the columns in the same stuff, the front of the building, at the very least, should end up looking okay.

Santos should cover the western side and if a decent resi tower covers up the eastern, the clusterfuckery may be a lot less obvious.

Slightly off topic, but when Santos moves into it's new HQ, the new naming rights of Santos House will be passed on to Westpac.

The glass above the carpark is just about done, and looks much better than what I thought it would.
Also the first glass has appeared on Santos.
