I can't get to that Subiaco transit development video on the AdelaideNow site Still going through the transporthousingplan.pdf... and trying to make sense of some of it (it's pretty late and my head's not all there tonight).
But I noticed on the above map, that the entire Adelaide City Council area is covered. What does that mean in terms of say Category 1 developments? E.g. I'd like to put up a 200m tower on say King William Street, how would the new plan affect my development?

I just cant believe whats happened in the last week. Its like a dream. Electrification and upgrade of our trains and trams, and now the development of TOD's. What has happened? We've finally worked out that we are a city, and we should finally start acting like one. I love it.

The Planning and Development Review has been in the works for about 12 months. I managed to sit on some of the Steering Committee sessions as an observer over that time. It was a high profile committee that included State and Local government planning experts, along with CE's of Planning SA and PIRSA. It was assisted heavily by KPMG consultants who did similar work in Sydney. The Steering Committee was Chaired by Labor MP and Parliamentary Secretary to the Premier, Michael O'Brien, who is the member for Napier (Elizabeth - Smithfield area).
The Transit Oriented Developments sites were originally assessed by the LMC as suitable, then taken onboard by the Steering Committee. Both Mike Rann and later Michael O'Brien took to the US to visit TOD sites. Part of my job was to set up a itinerary for Michael in Vancouver, Washington D.C, San Francisco, San Diego, Portland and Sacramento. The examples of TODS in the US differ widely, but Portland impressed Rann very much. Michael was very much taken with Washington D.C.
The electrification of the rail network would not have been so comprehensive had the planning review not been happening simultaneously, it has become a very complimentary package indeed.
The Vision for a Sustainable, Liveable Adelaide and South Australia is finally here, money has been committed to its beginning, now we all have to see it through.
Adelaide will definiately change ...

• Removing minor matters from the system such as

Other locations mentioned are simply existing significant centres within the corridors where development could also occur.
Cheltenham is TBC as the developers did not want to pursue higher densities... didn't believe the market would support more than two-storey townhouses.

Well, I've read the LMC Report on Transit Oriented Developments which was commissioned, I was led to believe, as part of an investigation into potential locations for TODs in Adelaide by the Steering Committee. Generally, the recommendations of suitable sites from the LMC TOD Report seem to have been adopted by the Planning Review. Yes, that is right. Jennifer Westacott from KPMG produced the report. She worked extraordinarily hard to put it together, hat off to her!

A lot of negativity coming out of Adelaidenow, I know, pinch of salt type thing but seriously...what the f-ck is the problem with these people.... they will literally get on the negativity band wagon for ANYTHING. Carnegie Mellon as another example. Anything that is put forward that is slightly visionary and doesn't cost under $5mill is not worth it to these cretins.
