COM: Northern Expressway | 22km
Re: #U/C: Northern Expressway | 22km
Maybe the Northern Expressway will have something like the travel time estimator used on the Tullamarine Freeway. Or maybe just a hazard board for the Northern Expressway. Where was it located and in what direction was it visible?

I've never understood those. It some of the ones closer in might as well say "You're fucked, there's no detour!"Norman wrote:Maybe the Northern Expressway will have something like the travel time estimator used on the Tullamarine Freeway.
Re: #U/C: Northern Expressway | 22km
A lot of the ones in Sydney are for safety messages such as "Drive safe, double demerits this long weekend" and "Drink drive - bloody idiot" and for road closure messages like "M5 tunnes closed for maintenance 10pm Sunday - 6am Monday". I doubt we will have too many road closure messages on ours when they are used, it will probably be more about the safety messages.

They're for indecent reporting, eg collision ahead, use alternate route.
Indecent reporting? That could be interesting!

I drove by the expressway construction a couple of weeks ago on the way to Brisbane. A very impressive project.
I just wish that the South road (and the other North South roads in Adelaide) would be fixed. We will end up with a great run into the metro area and the gridlock from Grand Junction road onwards.

Yes, but bringing you into the metro area is only a by-product of the Northern Expressway. It's primary function is for getting heavy freight from Sydney/Riverland/Barossa to Port Adelaide and Regency Park without clogging up the roads through Elizabeth and Salisbury, which it is going to do very well.Professor wrote:We will end up with a great run into the metro area and the gridlock from Grand Junction road onwards.

Wow, the work done has been very impressive thus far. I actually don't like what they've opted for with the interchange designs. They appear very awkward. Whatever happened to the good old fashioned 'diamond' interchange?

Is the expressway going to open in two stages like the other ones built here in Adelaide.
Cheers.

You mean like the Southern Expressway is still waiting for Stage 2 (the other carriageway)?RayRichards wrote:Is the expressway going to open in two stages like the other ones built here in Adelaide.
