Woodville already has 4 platforms (one which is currently disused). I suppose it is possible to use the existing platforms to serve trams if they raised the level of the track up to the platform instead of lowering the platforms, but that still doesn't answer how on earth trains and trams will use the same platforms. The alternative would be that trains and trams arrive at different platforms, which still makes little sense looking at the renders.

Right, but the disused 4th platform has a kiosk blocking part of it from being used.
In any case, lowering all the platforms on that line is going to cost a lot of money, and cause huge disruption. For no gain as far as I can tell.

The renders make no sense for a reason, the artist hasn't been told what is required because no one really knows. The tram track has a different profile to train, as does the wheels, vehicle height is different too.

I can't see any way to convert the existing platforms to allow both trains and trams. The tracks can't be raised for trams due to the adjacent road crossing, and the platforms can't be made different heights due to issues with train/tram pathing.

Lets say platform 1&2 are tram, and 3&4 are train, well that means trams and trains need to stop to allow others to gain access to the correct platforms and branch (remember this is the junction of Outer Harbor and Grange lines). Up and Down lines cross over also.

It just doesn't work, the money would be better spent on a dedicated tram corridor down Port Road.
TODs would make more sense along the Glanville to Outer Harbor section, which would make the train more viable.

I thought I drove over tram tracks yesterday on my way to work but I thought my mind was playing tricks on me or they could have been the old tram tracks that used to be there uncovered. It seems they laid those new tracks very quickly...

As far as I'm aware there's no official plans but the mood is it's only a matter of time. It's kinda silly.

Looks like the Port rd widening near the coke factory is almost done.

Driving to work everyday is becoming frustrating. Its funny how you begin to notice even the slightest thing done each day...its progressing so slowly :( .The lollypop man to worker ratio must be atleast 1:2

I dont wanna sound heaps negative about the project, I want the tram line. Its just happening so friggin slow (and considering i sometimes drive past the workers 3-4 times a day..and see them doing so little. Well it annoys me!) No wonder infrastructure projects cost so bloody much.

Test tram confuses commuters

CONFUSED passengers were keen to board one of Adelaide's new Euro trams as it rolled through town today, but will have to wait until systems testing is completed around Christmas.

The sleek red and blue Alstom Citadis tram tested along King William St is one of six bought by the State Government for $36 million to expand the TransAdelaide fleet.

Two trams have arrived in Adelaide for testing and are expected to be in operation by Christmas.

The remainder will arrive in coming weeks and all should be in operation in February.

A TransAdelaide spokesman said the test was a success.

I wonder if there were any "confused passengers" at all or if that's just a slant put on this otherwise positive story.

"Not In Service" is clearly displayed on the destination plate.
