Hey there, I was just wondering if anybody here has seen the Pepsi refresh eveything ( http://www.refresheverything.com ) project that they did instead of doing a superbowl advert this year? And also co-create-london: http://www.cocreatelondon.com/
Both examples of 'crowd-sourcing' ideas (very similar to what this thread already does) would be great developed for Adelaide, in fact i'm positive both are examples of government 2.0.
Question is, how could this be done in a way that actually gets things done? Would it need to be part of the ACC? or state government? or something else?

Re: Refresh Adelaide
Crowd sourcing is a funny beast. The results can be very unpredictable. I was privy to a few marketing experiments regarding its effectiveness. Seems it can't ever be forced, sometimes when a project just happens to capture the public's interest, it can work. But 99% of the time you end up looking very lonely. Also they're very prone to hijacking. Google "Mister Splashy Pants".

I think it's great that results are unpredictable. Both examples are great and show that EVERYONE has an idea. The best ideas should simple bubble to the top. If it's done right.
Are you in marketing and how long ago were these experiments?
That is the best thing i've read all day. Awesome.monotonehell wrote: "Mister Splashy Pants".

Re: Refresh Adelaide
Hi,
I actually started doing this a while back. I think it's an awesome idea and a great way for people to suggest ideas for Adelaide. Anyway you can go and check out what I started. It's nowhere near finished of course.

Happy for you to post ideas there, or give ideas for what we could include...
Cheers,
James.

http://5000plus.net.au/
5000+ is asking for ideas to help redesign and renew inner Adelaide as a more cosmopolitan centre – a place where all kinds of people of will want to work, play, visit and live prosperous lives.
5000+ is a pilot project for Australia.
This is about designing a more sustainable, forward-looking future for all South Australians and asks 'what is the quality of life we want for inner Adelaide'? And how might we build off this pilot, to inform more sustainable futures for regional and rural South Australian communities.
It's been said that the best way to predict the future is to design it.
