Was really curious about what color(s) the seats would be. Light green and burgundy sounds interesting. No doubt there'll be a few wanky things they can say they drew inspiration from - parklands, the hill, wine, grapes, vines, the roofs of the old stands etc

I went for my first look in person on Saturday and it's actually come up surprisingly well.

This is good to hear.

lol that they have kept the ivy alive, such detail! that's pretty cool. I guess the lack of a steep gradient of the lowest level is about the only negative of this stand (doesnt make for great viewing) but if it means people are closer to the action that helps.

Most importantly, Adelaide Oval needs a nickname - and for it to enter our lexicon. The MCG is called 'The G', and then there's 'The Gabba'.

So what's a catchy name for our beloved oval?
Opportunity is missed by most people because it is dressed in overalls and looks like work.

How about just "The Oval" ?

There are no other famous stadiums with the word "Oval" in the country, right?

PS "The Oval" sounds so schoolyard!

State Multifunction Sports Venue (SMSV) /bureaucrat with no imagination whatsoever

[correction]

Adelaide Multipurpose Sports Precinct (AMSP) /bureaucrat with no imagination whatsoever, but in tune with current naming practice

I did think of the need for one, but apart from something that would be censored on here, I passed. I am sure that when a suitable equivalent is found,
there will be a media release stating "We are thrilled to announce that the AMSP will also be known as ....." ("Excited" apparently isn't gripping enough now)

Recovering from a thumping sinus headache, and with little better to do:

"We are thrilled to announce" About 1,820,000 results (0.31 seconds)
"We are excited to announce" About 7,760,000 results (0.07 seconds)

Usually in reference to something neither thrilling, nor exciting.

How about 'The Womma' - sounds quirky i know... Tarndanya Womma translates as 'Adelaide plain/oval'. Tarndanya (from tarnda 'red kangaroo' + kanya 'rock') was the name for Adelaide.

And an interesting fact:
In the 19th century Indigenous people from the Lower Murray staged corroborees at Tarndanya Womma (Adelaide Oval). These events were huge turnouts drawing larger crowds than the cricket.
Opportunity is missed by most people because it is dressed in overalls and looks like work.

I can't get my tongue around that German name. Can you come up with something more Australian?
