Oh dear god. Glass blocks. I
hate glass blocks - godawful contemptible relics of the '80s. I have never seen a visually successful, desirable application of glass blocks.
As for the design, I keep thinking of this:

If approved, construction is expected to begin in August/September of this year and take 15 months to complete.

I really like the picture shown from the sales office - less severe and concretey than I thought from the other pics and allowing for the normal 'idealisation' of renders/drawings, it has to beat what is there now... broken pavers used for a car park and whatever that little shop there is.
Living and working in this immediate area of Adelaide, it will really be good to bring more life and people in because while 400KWS and Edge/Wave are nice additions, it still has a 'Canberra' feel to that end of town.

The render does make it more attractive - it certainly will improve on what is there as well as build up sth KWS. Will make a good entrance to the CBD. BTW - does anyone know what is happening up the road at the old Caledonian bldg?

I'm sorry but this is still hideous and will look bad no matter what way they spin the render.

It's just not acceptable for concrete panelling to be facing the street.

Agree!
It's hideous. I hope this does not go ahead with this design.

this would be ok as a filler in the waymouth/pirie strip, but for such a prominent gateway location, this is substandard and should be rejected.

Council recommended this be rejected at last weeks meeting. the decision now rests with the DAC in a few weeks time.

The number of "apartments", the size of the "apartments", the fact that the bathroom and bedroom were in the same space and the height.
