I saw pictures of the 2001 convention centre construction and it only had one crane, so this new part should only need one.
i dont like how they're removing all of those tall plane trees on north tce in front of the convention centre. There wont be anything left to hide the lovely new face of the convention centre

I seriously hope they do a re-design of that North Tce facade. It's bland and absolutely hideous. No scale, rhythm or modulation. Just a whopping bland wall with a few windows in it. If they build it like it's depicted in the artist impression we'll have a new ugliest building on North Tce on our hands.

I must say that the construction of the Convention center is indeed something to lookout for and the way it has been ending up seems that it's sure to have many visitors. I loved the architecture of building making good use of every little space available in a innovative way.

My partner, who works in the City and travels in by train each day was told this morning that 3 of the train lines into Adelaide Railway Station will be closed 'when construction starts'. The lady didnt mention which construction project it was for, but i'm assuming it would be for the extention of the Convention Centre. Can anyone confirm this?

On Railpage, poxbox3030 wrote:The platform is closed due to the removal of the retaining wall adjacent to Platform 1 and remedial works for the extention to the convention centre. You will find that over the construction period for this project, there will be rolling platform closures of no more than two at a time.

A great idea extending to the convention centre - hopefully there will be a lot more lighting in the currently dark and cavernous section beyond the concourse.

It doesn't sound to me like they are talking about extending the train platforms, rather they are talking about the extension of the convention center.
That said I really wish they would build a western entrance onto the platforms.

They'd need a couple of cranes, surely?

I thought I saw what appeared to be a piece of a crane sitting atop the loading dock yesterday when I went past on the tram. Anyone able to confirm this?

Not sure if I've missed this, but the detailed PDFs of the Draft Masterplan are up on the website... can't be arsed trawling through the thread so apologies if already posted.
Much more detail than the initial press release.
