It's a pleasure.

I have worked out how to compress the photo from the i-phone so can post some more from now on and good to see another crane going up. Will get a couple of shots of this crane when installed an post it.

I keep walking over to the new medical research site to see where the crane bases will be located, but not a lot of joy so far. Plenty of work going on so may take a photo anyway.

And will keep an eye on the second one to go in at the new tax office.

Nice to see come activity on the Adelaide skyline again. Best Regards

from what I can see from my window, it is a electric luffing crane, which from my memory is the first one we've had in SA.

For those of you familiar with Perth construction, it is the same style you see in 99% of their sites.

If we can have 80 - 90m+ cranes here why can we not have buildings of such a height if it is trully because of "air restrictions".

Near as i can tell the OLS (Obstacle Limit Surface) restriction is 120-130m (above sea level) at this address. Adelaide CBD is ~50m above sea level, so a 70-80 metre crane does not require any special approvals. A 90m crane *may* require CASA/DOTARS approval.

The ACC imposed building height limit is 53m.

Turns out this Poatin Crane is in fact from WA. It's been hired by Hindmarsh from D & G Crane & Hoist Hire, which supplies nearly all of the cranes in use in Perth.

I went and had a look just then, level three has been poured, and level five is in the formwork, according to the foreman I spoke to.

I checked this out last night.

The footprint of the building is small and its going up quick as a result.

Should top out at the end of May.

Does anyone know who will be running the apartments once they are built or even if they are to be sold off to the public?
