It looks like it stretches from North Terrace to what I think is called Woodsons Lane.

The new renders look OK, but I'm slightly concerned about how prominent those plant rooms will be on a skyline perspective.
SRW, if you look again, the development is seperated by a side street, which I believe to be Woodsons Lane. The street in the background is equivalent to the width of North Terrace, indicating that it is Hindley Street.
Renders are tricky things. If you look back to original renders, that break between the buildings is just a shared lobby area. If this were to stretch from North Tce to Hindley, it'd be longer than the Repco site building.

Unfortunately it does only stretch to the lane.

Well, those renders had a few thinking otherwise!
Thanks for clearing that up Ben, and sorry SRW.

Even without the siteplan you guys should have realised it wasn't going to stretch all the way to Hindley Street (as it would have been massive). You should have looked at its size in relation to the Roma Mitchell Building!

Cheers

Thankgod for that!. That McDonalds is one of the best looking maccas restaurants in Australia.

Would be a huge shame if we lost that building

It's, er....not exactly my favourite. Preferable to OctaSpark823957384, but that's akin to preferring anything over dysentery.

And put those cost analyses away! Economic practicality be damned!

Surely the Hindley Maccas building is heritage listed, no?

There appears to be some confusion regarding this development.

At present the developers have planning approval for 2 x 53m buildings.

HOWEVER, at the moment they are seeking to ammend this. The ammended plans involve an additional 2 floors for the south tower.

Thus, if the ammended proposal gains planning approval, the development will comprise the North Tower which will remain at 18 levels and 53m, and the South Tower which will be 20 levels and 59m.

Specifications:

North Tower:

*18 levels
*50m to top of roof
*53m to top of structure
*224 apartments
*7118.4 sqm2 GFA

South Tower

*20 levels
*56.5m to top of roof
*59m to top of structure
*264 apartments
*7881.6sqm2 GFA

Both buildings are 14.55m long and 28.6m deep
Both buildings will have 2 elevators and 1 stairwell
Both buildings will have 2 retail tenancies on the ground level
Both buildings will be built using the structural materials of aluminium, concrete and glass.
Both buildings will have the following colours on their façades: light grey, medium grey, light blue, medium blue, white and beige.

Parlamentos will be reinstated into a new restaurant at Street level on North terrace.

Would have been more of a shame to lose that icon than the Maccas I reckon !

I don't think anyone would be worried about losing McDonalds. Only the building it's in.

I completely disagree, its probably the most popular place to go between midnight and 6am on Friday & Saturday nights. HJs on West Terrace & Rundle St would be up there aswell

nothing wrong with retaining Macca's .. whilst we may not indulge, this building is after all for students (ie. 'international' students) and we need to cater to international tastes. So I figure other shops in the lower floors would cater in asian foods seeing as they are our biggest influx of students.
As long as no heritage style buildings are destroyed. I love it when they retain the 4 storey old heritage buildings with a kick arse tower behind it.

fencing has now been put up around the old hotel building today, and the footpath along Bank Street is now closed off to pedestrians on the eastern side, and demolition signs everywhere.
Sad to see this cool old building go, but what will be replacing will be great.

We better get some photos before its pulled down
