Hi guys.
I'm the person who did all the renders of T1 and T2 you have seen. Yes I work at WB. It's very interesting to read/see what you all think about the development, and great photos too. If you have any queries I can try to answer them. Cheers.

Hi webng,

Welcome to the site buddy, glad you could join us. Would you be able to clear up some misconceptions or confirm details in the City Central thread here? I'm sure the members have lots of questions ;)

Thanks mate.

Hi mate, glad to have you on board.

The only issue I can think of right now, aside from the obvious onslaught you'll get about the remaining plans for the City Central site, is why the developers chose to move away from an all glass southern facade with 'pods' on T2, in favour of what looks like exposed concrete between the pods.

Will they at least clad the concrete in the same finish as the front of the western wall of T1?

Welcome mate, do you know how much retail floor space will be included in the GPO redevelopment?

I can tell you that one. 12,000 sqm approx.

Re the exposed concrete on southern facade around pods, we needed somewhere for the core, if you look carefully at the renders, the core wall carries past the pods.
It'll most probably be painted like the western face of CCT1, but not the alpolic cladding.

Unsure on that, sorry.

Earlier DA drawings are very much superceded, unless you know something we don't, that seems unlikely.

As for the remaining plans for the CC site, I hope you understand that it's all a bit up in the air at the moment, I can't confirm or deny much :|
I can tell you that CCT2 Is due for completion very early next year.
And that there's still a 100m building height limit (Santos an exception) in the CBD for flight paths, hence CCT1 spire is 99m high. So not much chance of the 120m-130m buildings speculated around the site.

I received that info about three weeks ago from Aspen as I work for a finacial Advisory firm and they are trying to get us to offer our clients the Aspen Development Fund which owns City Central (or will as it's built) but it could very well be outdated as a lot of the renders shown for later towers CC 6 & 7 are already outdated.

Isn't the height limit for that part of the CBD 103m to top of roof, which allows one to add an extra 15m of plant room or decorative roof structure. This would mean that essentially the height limit is 118m.

CC2 is progressing well. Good to see that glass on the 4th floor now. I like the way it isn't flush with the other floors, which keeps with CC1's design, this feature looks even better in person. Not many floors to go now, we could loose the crane from this site soon too. Electra House is also starting to get its treatments now. Pics from this arvo:

So can anybody estimate when the footpath will be returned to the Public? Will it be when the crane is removed or will it be when the Building is fully finished?

Well they have extended the undercover walkway down past Electra House so it is a fair way off still.
