They are actually going to paint the hideous U Park in a beige colour to match Rundle Place.Mr Smith wrote: If this is an attempt to 'blend in' with the equally visually jarring U Park next door, then they have succeeded.
There's nothing wrong with having an all glass facade. Yes, it would have been different, but if that part of the building is department store then a glass curtain wall would not have been suitable. If it was a restaurant or offices, yes. As I haven't seen the interior plans I don't know what is behind the sandstone frontage...I am only assuming.crawf wrote:What's wrong with that?. It would make a nice change compared to other shopping centres.
So they are actually painting a carpark facade in faux sandstone colour,...to match a new faux sandstone facade, to match ...the real sandstone facade on Regent arcade?? Dont get me wrong, I think blending in the horrible maroon carpark is an improvement, but we really need to get over the obsession with sandstone.Maybe clad the outside of the carpark with well ventillated glass curtain walling. Now that would look spectacular. Faux sandstone is even being used on the new Adelaide oval, when the heritage of the oval is red brick. They are actually going to paint the hideous U Park in a beige colour to match Rundle Place.
I've always found that bothersome too.claybro wrote:Faux sandstone is even being used on the new Adelaide oval, when the heritage of the oval is red brick.
