Are they also upgrading the north-eastern corner of the King William intersection as well? That corner's quite outdated and downright dangerous with that long slip lane.

I noticed the area in front of Government House was fenced off when I was down the other week. How are things progressing? Does the thread title need updating?

Probably should post this in The Pub.. but the Northern Lights are back on starting tomorrow night. Highly recommend going to see them if you haven't already.

I wonder if they have considered doing the Westpac building. Say what you will about its design but it would be absolutely perfect for something like this.

Its too close to the street to be able to setup a projector infront of it unfortunatley.

So set the projectors up on neighbouring buildings and we'll be able to see the show from all over the suburbs!

This, there are plenty of rooftops around that projectors could be placed on if the owners agreed to it.

I'm impressed that they've managed to whip this into shape in time for the festival season, but I do hope that it's only a stop-gap. I don't understand why there's a garden bed isolating one side of the path from the other? The whole point of the North Terrace upgrade so far has been to improve north-south mobility. I know that that seems like a moot point when you come against a big stone wall (which should've gone, IMO), but I think it still matters, if for no other reason than that there's a disconnect from this 'scaled-down' design to the more considered design of the earlier stages.
That said, it's clearly not finished, with plantings to be done and furnishings to be installed. I'll wait and see.
