Adelaide Railway Station re-opening from Monday 4 February

Work has progressed well in the yard alongside the Adelaide Railway Station and is nearing completion however services are still operating to their temporary substitute timetable.

Outer Harbor & Grange, and Gawler trains resume normal service

View your updated Outer Harbor & Grange timetable (PDF 1MB), now available with new times and in the new format.

Continue to use your standard Gawler timetable (PDF 2MB), now available in the new format.

With several other major projects still being carried, the Noarlunga & Tonsley, and Belair train lines to remain closed until later in 2013.

Does anyone know if the wires are actually going up in the Adelaide yard? Or is that going to be yet another closure (or night work) ?

Also has this been tried anywhere else in the world? (Spain?)
Not sure if trolling or just doesn't understand how crummy solar is without subsidies.

How is the wiring work being done across South Road/Cross Road? Will the intersection be closed for a night or something?

Solar, In SA our Government likes the Wind (Since they blow so much of it). The Stanvac Traction Power Substation is being built right next to the desal plant connection (Desal plant locked into a wind contract). The New Substation built by Electranet at Keswick last year is also designed to feed the electric Rail Network (This station has a direct link with the Torrens Island power plant).
All we need now are a few wind turbines were set up on Parliament House, and we would never be out of power again :P

Im guessing a couple of night closures for Emerson Crossing. One for the Track to be Relaid, and one for wiring to be connected. The Overhead will be one of the last things in place thou.

Night work most likely, but they won't need to stop any services because they won't be using half the platforms over the next few months

They will probably be able to work around a full closure, by doing it piece by piece, and only doing they platforms they need initially.

Some good details in the following article about the completed work during the Adelaide Station closure.
Trains back running through Adelaide Railway Station

TRAIN services at Adelaide Railway Station will resume on Monday after the completion of a $50 million upgrade ahead of the introduction of electric train services.

Up to 20,000 train commuters on the Gawler, Grange and Outer Harbor lines are expected to once again travel directly into the city centre after the month-long closure of the railway station.

As part of the upgrade, Grange passengers will no longer need to change trains at Woodville.

However, Adelaide's first electric rail services - which will travel on the Noarlunga line between Seaford and the station - will not take place until the end of this year or early 2014.

They closed three Adelaide Railway Station for a month and I notice that the replacement of the rail tracks actually stops short of the railway station itself by about 150m or so. The tracks in the station itself still have the old ballast and wooden sleepers. Why was this not replaced?
