Related, the council is also going to be upgrading the south side of North Tce between KWS and Gawler Pl, and Frome St and East Tce as a follow on from the tram extension. Work will begin once the bulk of the tram work is done (to avoid any damage).

That looks amazing. Adelaide needs more gardens and greenery. Would love to see this West to East terrace.

This does look great. I am often critical of the councils for lack of care with streetscaping, but if these gardens can be maintained to the standard on the other side of North Terrace, it will create a really striking boulevard. Agree also this treatment or similar should continue to West Terrace.

Yasss so good! Adelaide needs more of this beautification around the city. So good to see it start at North Terrace.
Not the right topic but whilst we are on the subject of beautification, let's hope there's a good investment in upgrading and developing the park lands with usable civic facilities that make them that more vibrant. The gardens they could harbour could be epic.

Have you seen the development ongoing in the South Parklands at the moment?

Considering the building isn't set back from North Terrace like other prized buildings along the strip, I'd love to see the removal of trees in front of Parliament House. Expose the building to the street, similar to what they have done in Melbourne.

Yes, I think that would be a good idea.

Not sure what the $4.5 million that was budgeted for this is doing, because the timeline has slipped from the beginning of last year; to July; to Christmas; to god knows when now. Aside from Grenfell Street, this is one of the final sections of streetscape to be upgraded in our core precinct. The project site has not been updated since 2019. https://www.cityofadelaide.com.au/devel ... h-upgrade/

There was a story a couple of weeks ago in The Advertiser to say that it's been pushed out again to start in July 2021 due to gasworks. They don't want to do all the work only for the gas companies to come afterwards and rip it all up (apparently it will require open trenching). The new pavers for it are all being put in storage, and the council will spend '$30,000 to make sure the existing footpath stretches are “presentable and safe”.'

Ah, thank you for that Info. Disappointing but reasonable, especially considering the mess gas works have made of Hindley Street (and elsewhere).

This project disappeared from the council website some time ago.
