What's actually driving Festival Tower 2 is Walker Corp buying and bullying their way into maximising their gains from the contract they signed regarding this precinct, the Labor government having no spine have opted to cash in on Walkers demands and expectations by allowing for a proposal to get up which they could then relocate the Department of Premier and Cabinet/Treasury from Vic Square. What did we, the taxpayer, gain from this? "Completed and suitable" are the words of someone who clearly hasn't taken a walk around the precinct, and if you have, you must have been blindfolded. Adelaide needs premium office-space, sure, there are plenty of other CBD sites sitting dormant that the government either owns or could own to push for these needs (the old bus terminal on Flinders Street, for one). And those laws only extend to election buying donations, these companies we're talking about want their presence and branding on a building that will not at any point in time be interrupted by neighbouring development and in the case of Deliotte, will always be in every postcard shot of Adelaide CBD, in every television frame for events at Adelaide Oval and The Drive and so on.
