So will that mean the existing building will be demolished?

The way I look at Tea Tree Plus, it's like it's stuck in the 2000s. Toys R Us is also like it's stuck in the 1990s. Still predicting what will happen to the former Cheap As Chips & Wallspan spaces... :sly:

A long time ago I had heard that Woolworths was going to take over the current staff carpark behind the former Harris Scarfe (now former Cheap As Chips), leading to an extension of the mall through the shop. Dan Murphies would then take over what it needs from the current woolworths.

Now this was based on information I heard as to why Woolworths TTP was not receiving a refurb, but I heard this all many years ago from unreliable sources.

The McDonalds is not being extended. They're building a completely new one right next to the existing one.

The new one is almost at lockup stage now and is scheduled to open by November according to notices on display inside the old McDonalds.

Once the new one opens the old one will be demolished, and in fact even though it's still open some pre-demolition activity has already well and truly started. Paths have been removed, part of the drive through is shut off and dug up, and the lawns and flower beds have been completely removed including at least one big tree. The outside seating area of the old store is closed off and boarded up because it's almost right next to the new store.

The new one will be something a bit like the Harbourtown one judging by the shape of it.

There's also a hand car wash (Magic car wash) being built in the carpark between Myer and McDonalds, and that is quite close to completion.

I'll better head down & take some pics because I liked that 'retro roof' of the older one since I was little.

There's still plenty of other McDonalds with the traditional roof so no need to worry about them all disappearing just yet!

I have some fond memories of that McDonalds from my younger days :) Whilst it will be a little sad to see it go, it is definitely time for a new one.

Just a silly thought, but for a very short time there will technically be THREE McDonalds at TTP, all within less than a minute walk from each other!

Not if you've had too much of it... even then, the one inside TTP is probably a bit more than a minute away at a stretch.

Just an observation. I wasn't suggesting we all get together for a TTP McDonalds crawl lol!

More of the Maccas from today. Workmen on roof wearing protective suits and I'm assuming that they're removing asbestos.
