yeah i saw that article too
It was a great article, i just hope people take note of it and begin to change their views on development in the city!
If we want to see us make an impact over the country this needs to happen.
Last night whilst watching the ABC news in Melbourne, they put up the unemployment figures for the country, with a quote "state by state" breakdown!
Well, they only put up figures for QLD, NSW and VIC.....SA, WA, NT and TAS didnt get a mention!! so much for a "state by state" comparisson. For the record SA's unemployment rate is 5.7% (as read in the Age)

135 Pirie St is covered in scafolding and looks like the exterior is getting a makeover? Pretty ugly building so i hope so.
This is opposite the site of the explosion on Pirie ST last year which also seems to have work under way. The architects are David Dawson
http://www.ddarchs.com.au. No render on website as yet but hopefully won't be long.

It has been a quiet last couple of weeks in term of development applications lodged with the ACC.
The most interesting one is this:
Quality Hotel Rockford (164-180 Hindley Street)
The hotel, formerly known as the Barron Townhouse, which was built in 1972 is looking rather tired. In order to freshen up the building's appearance, the hotel will receive a massive facelift worth $6 million. The most interesting part will involve the removal of the current 5th floor, which is to be replaced by 3 new floors of hotel accomodation. This will increase the height of the building.
This development has be categorized as Category 1, by the ACC.

Is this the hotel on the corner of Hindley and Morphett Streets? If so it will be quiet a change for that area. Sounds interesting.

This is good news for the Barron Townhouse. It's in a prime location not far from many of Adelaide's amenities (including the future tram on North Terrace).
Cheers

And directly opposite the proposed Morphett St apartments. Might see a few cranes over that side later this year.
