Actually no, it probably was worth saving. Especially when you consider the shit that's going in its place. It had ab beautiful interior, and with repurposing the building itself could have had more street appeal.

It was hideous and a waste of a prime corner.

It’s an even big piece of crap replacing a small piece of crap.

I think there's been too much bitching about this development. Let's wait until the first levels are built and the cladding and glazing are up. Besides we should be worried more about filling these buildings with students or else they'll be failures. Unless of course they can be converted easily into other kinds of housing or accommodation.

I must be in the minority but I don’t mind this building. The materials will make or break it but looking forward to two 100m+ next to each other.

I am with Ben. If it's done with cheap materials it will look average, but if done well i think it could look ok...

I agree. The problem tho is that this thing is being value managed something fierce. Cheap materials area a dead cert.
