I think it's a bit of a shame the eastern side hasn't turned out like the render..
Agree 100%. That and at the back look ugly as... it is what it is.
Eh, I may be in a minority here but I think the faux gold has been done to death and it never looked good just tacky.
I do not disagree entirely, but I think it is definitely better than the plain concrete slabs on the northern and eastern sides, don't you think so?

Can they not paint them white? The did for the roofs of the balconies.

How confident are we that they won't be painted?

Gonna need some very, very long extension poles!

This build has turned out superbly - other than this rather ordinary eastern podium finish.

I'm looking forward to seeing how the brick slips turn out.

So nice to see brick incorporated in podiums; even if they are brick slips.

Painted or left plain, it will likely be concealed in the long run by another building.
Hopefully the two adjacent properties and the open car park behind them are combined as one, with a podium as high as this one's podium, and a tower set back into Trade Hall lane

I've been told by someone from the developer's office that they will be painted, but plans could always change. It is true that eventually they might get concealed by other buildings.

I guess time will tells us.

The brick Sarnia Building immediately east is local heritage, which may limit its development potential. The wall should be painted or faced.

You're right. But, by the look of it, not very well maintained, I wouldn't be surprised if it gets green light to either be demolished for a development, or maintain its facade for a development behind just like it happened with the Australia Post Office, the today called Charter Hall, or what will happen with the Freemasons Hall (if that's how it's called) becoming the Keystone Tower.

If I'm not mistaken, the site that this building currently sits on was part of the Sarnia building but cut off?

No, built later in the same style, but separate buildings.

This building is starting to look really good - nice finishes and the brickwork pays respect to Grote Street
