A great day for those who want a progressive Adelaide!

STEPHEN Yarwood has won the battle to become Adelaide's new Lord Mayor in the 2010 council elections.
With counting continuing, preferences were flowing strongly to the 39-year-old town planner, after receiving 2493 primary votes. His closest rival was France Wong, who at last count had received 1996 primary votes.
Officials are tallying up Ralph Clarke's preferences, with those votes expected to heavily favour Mr Yarwood. Mr Clarke himself received 1332 primary votes.
Cris Magasdi received 547 votes, Arnie Rossis received 233 and Jeffrey Wheare received 78.
At 4pm, Mr Clarke phoned Mr Yarwood to congratulate him on his victory.

Stephen, well done. Please keep using social media - would love a regular youtube video update.
Loved your grass roots campaign. Heaps of door knocking. Blew away the opposition!
And drop by here often...
Opportunity is missed by most people because it is dressed in overalls and looks like work.

Very happy with the result.
Congrats.
How much did the Format/Renew Adelaide peeps help out? Glad to see those passionate about Adelaide and a progressive Adelaide getting involved.

Great news Stephen. I look forward to Adelaide benefitting from your obvious enthusiasm for progress.
The fact that you've been elected at such a comparatively and historically young age against more fancied and perhaps more celebrated opponents speaks volumes. Perhaps the city's moving on and ready to embrace change.
Well done and best of luck.
