Mixed Use Residential Development

Saunders Global were commissioned to undertake a feasibility study into the site potential for a substantial mixed use residential development. Early modelling and planning studies revealed the form and shape of the development and have lead to positive response from local and state government stakeholders. With a true mixed use development community sense of place. We believe this project will be a benchmark in the Adelaide 30 year plan

Simple yet beautiful.
Probably the best looking mixed use building in South Australia.

Reminds me of some of the better quality medium rise development I saw in Sydney when I was living there.

I agree, looks like it could be an outer suburban development in Sydneyml69 wrote:Reminds me of some of the better quality medium rise development I saw in Sydney when I was living there.

As long as it looks good and is well designed, I dont care where the design draws inspiration from!

Struggling to visualize where it would actually sit on the property? Can someone please assist my momentary stupidity.

Can only assume the end with the glass and umbrellas represents the Parade end ...but who knows? Nice design but out of character I think for the Parade.....trying to think what type of mid rise building would work here ain't easy though.....

"Concept" used very loosely here I think. I think your right on the location. I don't think we'll see the older small premises along the parade bulldozed for this thou. More likely just the current mall, Coles and car parks to be redeveloped IMHO.how good is he wrote:Can only assume the end with the glass and umbrellas represents the Parade end ...but who knows? I heard a rumour that coles at norwood may be closing down.

InDaily carried a report (13 Sept) on Coles $60m planned upgrade for Norwood Mall.Mants wrote:I heard a rumour that coles at norwood may be closing down.

The Norwood Coles supermarket is a decidedly poor cousin to the thriving one in Burnside Village. The Norwood Coles store is tired. By contrast, the newer Norwood Foodland in the Mall opposite seems to be hugely popular with local folk. The Coles/Norwood Mall is due for redevelopment. 'Gloria Jeans' closed suddenly some months ago and the space has been left vacant and unloved.
The carpark in the vicinity, off George and off Edward Streets, is critical for success of the local shops and cafés etc in the Mall and on the Parade. The 2 hour limit is policed by parking inspectors to ensure turnover. It will be interesting to see the plans for carparks and what impact the redevelopment will have on the existing carpark and local businesses during construction.
The InDaily item only mentions an option for residential in the future. This site would be ideal for a retail/commercial, residential mix under the re-zoning for higher densities plan. The older shopfronts on the Parade should remain, as mentioned by 'fishinajar' earlier, to maintain the heritage and charm of the Norwood Parade streetscape.

As someone who lives in Norwood, I bloody well hope the idea isn't to tear down the trees along Edward St, or I'll be pissed!

Very much doubt the local council will allow that to happen, especially for mature trees.Phantom wrote:As someone who lives in Norwood, I bloody well hope the idea isn't to tear down the trees along Edward St, or I'll be pissed!

Some limited details, drawings and a plan of the proposed redevelopment of the Coles supermarket, Norwood Mall and adjacent car park are currently on display in the Norwood Coles Mall. I only had time for a quick look but my first impression was ... disappointing. I haven't seen any details online.
