Travelling Mind - What's your thought or experience?

#1 Post by Edgar » Mon Apr 23, 2007 12:00 pm

I am just curious to find out what do you guys have in mind.

Have you got any thoughts or intentions of travelling overseas and see the world to enjoy or gain experience but are unable to do so because something is holding you back?

I mean like seriously, everyone wants to travel overseas and see the world, but due to financial reasons or family, which holds you back, does it have effect on you?

For people with family, as in married with a wife and children, and you want to take the whole family overseas one day, would you do it now (when the children are still young) or would you do it when they grow older before reaching their adulthood?

Personally, if I am in such situation, I would wait till they grow older before I decide to bring the whole family for an overseas trip. As they grow older, the experience that they will face will have a much more impact in them, and they will appreciate it more than if they are at younger age.

But I wouldn't want to hold until then because fuel prices is increasing, and the cost of travelling in the future has only one way to go, up. Who knows, we might not even be able to travel with airplanes anymore.

So would you, or would you not, especially those with family, travel now or hold back till later?

I'm 26 and was fortunate to have travelled quite a bit overseas as a child to visit family who are placed all around the globe. I don't think you should underestimate the effect such travel will have on your children, I still recall much of my travels and more importantly these excursions have had a significant effect on my general attitudes, ideas and beliefs. I think giving your children a global perspective as early as possible is highly commendable and personally I think would be more pleasurable for you. Compare site seeing with wide-eyed, enthusiastic youngsters or ipod listening, txting, moody emo teenagers
