New renders including Adelaidean.
Imagine Realm in the background there as well. Should look sensational when all 3 are built, will be great to see more 100m+ buildings on the Adelaide skyline.
Also interesting to if the hospital clinic site next to Budget gets developed in the future.

Also, the University of Adelaide building on the corner of North Terrace and Pulteney Street.

If they can amalgamate the sites then that block is development gold. Would be quite a sight to see a dense cluster of talls there and would almost shift the balance of the skyline away from the state bank building (especially when factoring in Realm)

Besides the "height" there's nothing in that render to be excited about.

If this and the opposite block get developed it would make a great gateway for coming into the CBD from past the zoo.
It's a shame that Realm will be mostly blocked from the east by these buildings. A couple more similar sized structures spread out slightly south of this site would make for a fantastic looking city from the Eastern suburbs.

Agreed.
Tbh I’m not really a fan of this proposal at all. North Terrace deserves better.

True, it's not inspirational and it will date as a design, but it's not too much different from the image you posted earlier, besides it's only student accommodation. Look at some of the other buildings that have already been built for this category. This one wins hands down. The real issue is for those that have already purchased an apartment in the Adelaidean.
What are they going to view now, students hanging their washing on sticks out the window, a la Hong Kong? That would be a depressing sight.

What do you suggest
crawf? A glass tower?
Cheers
P.S. That remark in italics was a joke. I doubt very much the windows will open enough for that sort of thing to happen anyway. Hopefully the designers have taken that into consideration.

I’m not a fan but, I guess that because it serves is to house a bunch of uni students, aesthetic won’t be considered as much as a luxury apartment. Proximity-wise, it’s a great idea to live across the road of a uni, that in itself will attract the attention of parents sending their kids to Adelaide and Feasibility-wise, it will probably be built because of that reason.
I mean it’s not awful but I personally just wish they had a little more scrutiny in design when dealing with the cultural boulevard of Adelaide.

Because the building it will replace, the rent-a-car place and the two buildings in the foreground of the render (to the right of the trees) look so much more "cultural" than this boring functional building????
Just looking along that part of North Terrace on streetview, I'm not sure any of the buildings achieve both "cultural" and "street-level activation", both of which appear to be desirable.

Are people seriously complaining about this building? Especially after years of beige and glass in Adelaide, then the current painted box style, this is quite different.

It's probably not the most endearing angle to view the buildings. But honestly I think it's the Alpha Apartments craptastic lego glasshouse in the foreground doing it more than the scrapers.

Which one that I posted, the one with the curved/wavy exterior "columns"??
Even the new "tall" next to it looks shockingly average. We are getting excited because of the height, which is fair enough. But if we are to have new "talls" or a new tallest, they should be of a higher quality in design.
There's more inspirational design in a turd then these buildings. Anyone can come up with designs like this on sketchup for free, put them through a rendering program and make them look shiny. And to think someone has actually paid someone to design these buildings, probably very good money
could have just got shuz on to do it over the weekend
