[ONH] 75-79 King William Street | ~38m | 10 Levels | Hotel
[ONH] Re: 75-79 King William Street | ~38m | 10 Levels | Hotel
Lots of anti-development reactions on this forum lately. I'm not thrilled by this proposal, but if it's within the planning rules and not offending the common good, I've got no business opposing it. Small praise, but it actually is better than a derelict site.
Tbh, I remember a rumour about the upper levels being abstestos filled, so I suspect there's more twists to this story still.

It's not anti-development to choose not to celebrate a massive downgrade like this

I liked it because the design was interesting, the fact that it was fairly "big" was a bonus.VinyTapestry849 wrote: ↑Tue Nov 05, 2024 5:10 pmdude, i was so looking forward to that big tower (I think I speak in behalf of everyone on that view)

That's not what I'm talking about. I've also not celebrated.

Everyone here has the right to feel scammed and be disappointed by what was originally planned.
I’ve been in a Wyndham a few times and I can confidently say that Wyndham will definitely not move into a development like this. The property group is either kidding themselves or cooked.

You have to think big when you buy a tired asset like this, otherwise you're left with something not expensive but not cheap either and unable to earn anything on it. Big development gone, now this is their only option besides letting it rot.HiTouch wrote: ↑Tue Nov 05, 2024 10:41 pmEveryone here has the right to feel scammed and be disappointed by what was originally planned.

This is the nature of this industry. It happens a lot and we need to be ready for disappointment. Wyndham would be the most disappointed. See it also from their point of view.
Definitely not. They wouldn’t even be aware of this. As I said in an earlier post no proposal of any significance has been proposed to Wyndham in the CBD. The developer has lost all credence and will have to look at other usage.I’ve been in a Wyndham a few times and I can confidently say that Wyndham will definitely not move into a development like this. At the rate of student accomodation proposals are flying in, nothing would surprise me to see this site flipped and a new application for an apartment tower pop up.
I'm disappointed as this is a prime CBD boulevard location and deserves an outcome of significance. Lets see what (or doesn't) happen here.

I had a feeling the more ambitious plan wouldn't get up. I want something to get up - sick of looking at that sad shell out of the office window every day.

If it's built approximately as rendered, it'll be some cheap hotel. No reputable brand would go there.

Literally looks like a hookers hotel. I can't see great things coming out of this one, reputation wise.

Its a tiny footprint really hopefully this new proposal doesn't get off the ground either, and ideally the abomination next door would be bulldozed and the sites combined for something iconic on the skyline.
Would be a good contrast between the 'old' Adelaide represented by the RAA Building across the road and the 'new' Adelaide.
Perfect location for a mixed use development, office, hotel and residential with multiple public transport options and nightlife/eateries/rundle mall/etc
