I like that first shot, with the GPO, CC2 & 1 & the Westpac tower complementing each other.

No construction expertise, but I can tell you that it would have been easy. Glass, perspex (or even aluminium) panels on aluminium frames. Cost, not sure. You would have to ask one of the estimators who worked on the project.

As great as that photo does look (and it really is good), one must wonder how better and more modern the same scene will look when the Heart of Glass is done.

Illuminated Ernst & Young box sign has been installed under the awning at the main K W Street entrance, with signage on the
Al-Clad finish at the entrance - looks like it is temporarily in place with black electrical tape?

Also, Electra House has been restored, apparently to its original, with a "classic" courthouse-style triangle above the columns (instead
of a flat topped facade) and "Citizens Life Assurance Co Limtd" across the top of the columns. I assume this was the original owner,
but I only ever knew it as Electra House in the days when it was part of the PMG Technician's Training School (where I trained), and
later the Telecom Museum. Looks good.

Thanks for the photos. I am very interested in how the restoration of Electra House will turn out. Current work is very impressive, and I am sure that once the Mansard Roof is on place, it will look even beter.

And before it was known as Electra House, the building was built for the MLC company.

Thanks for the bit of history - I searched & found the following:

The Mutual Life and Citizens Assurance Co Ltd (1908 - )
Following a series of amalgamations with smaller insurance companies Citizens Life Assurance Co Ltd
changed its name to The Mutual Life and Citizen's Assurance Co Ltd in 1908.

I get confused with the "alphabet" insurance cos these days - MLC, CML etc.

The remaining scaffolding has now been removed, showing ads for an upcoming ANZ office on the ground floor.

The Waymouth streetscape up towards Bentham Street now looks marvellous, minus the fact that it doesnt have any trees, but nonetheless, the look of striking glass alongside the whole street, finished off with a historical chracter building at its end makes it very pleasing on the eye. Whilst we can all agree the pods on the southside are just blah, the rest of the building is quite nice actually.
