maybe we get 14-24 in the city over the next few years. what is the record for construction cranes in the CBD?

I think the record was actually 8-10 during the construction boom of the 1980's. Pretty pitiful considering the amount of activity that has been occurring in other cities of late.

I think we briefly reached 9 last year while the hold up was occurring with one of the bldgs on Gouger St.

Someone mentioned the new Gold Coast Hospital project? This one is of a similar scale to the planned new RAH (slightly taller and slightly bigger project), and this one required 9 cranes:

With HRMI going ahead as well we could easily see 10 cranes in the area, that as long as the 2
developments are built concurrentlly.

North Tce 29th Jan 2011. An almost brand-new 350 tonne Samaras superlift crane assembles a site crane on North Tce.

Bill.

In the first shot the Samaras crane is aout to lift the engine/winching equipment up to the site crane.
You can see the workers waiting in the the 38 degree heat:



In the second shot the workers have pinned the new section in place and the Samaras crane is gently lowering the unit until its stays take the load:

I only caught a brief glimpse last night, but I think the crane for Uno apartments is going up too. If anyone is in the city today, could you please clarify.
